Underage national team coaching jobs are the safest, most protected jobs in the country with no performance assessment. How people like GVE lasted so long in that environment is ridiculous and the Vidmars aren’t far behind
Yea I don't think you can blame the prep, the game time, or investment this time. They did everything to get ready for the tournament and even with key players missing this team should have been able to get over Jordan and Idonesia. Yea blame on the coaches for the tactics but also the players for failing. They are good enough to get past this and they haven't they failed.
Absolutely. It used to be that we’d be lucky to play a friendly before a tournament, but this time we’ve played multiple tournaments in the years leading up to this. Some of those lads are getting close to 20 u23 caps.

Yeah theres been talk about trialling a 60-minute stop clock in football to stamp out time-wasting tactics, and if FIFA were really watching what is going in regions like West Asia then they would see that something can not be done quick enough.

I think Nish might need to head overseas. His athleticism seems to mask technical flaws. Needs to hone his skills in maybe a Japanese environment.
Mitchell Duke took exactly the same approach as suggested (by going to J-league side Shimizu S-Pulse early in his career) and it did wonders for him. The club recognised that he had some raw talent (but lacking a decent first touch) so they converted him into a full back to improve his technical skills.
Lack of technical skill will hold him back from being able to go overseas

Swap out Volpato (very unlikely he plays - but you never know) for Hrustic (No real stand out u23 number 10)
Have Botic and Toure competing for the number 9 role, but if one or both are out of form / injured, bring in Kusini Yengi, or even thow in Tete Yengi playing in Scotland (He's one year too old for u23)
Another option is to bring in Lewis Miller at RB, but Italiano and Talbot are OK options (both captains in first two group stage games)

Even without him I feel like we have the talent to be playing better than this. We have given away possession so much, we are lucky they aren’t clinical in the final third
We can but Irankunda makes a team 1000 times better. When a team is playing bad, one piece of magic from Irankunda can turn it around. Only other player that has x-factor on the pitch is Toure and he’s coming back from injury.
Oh 100%, he is so explosive and always lifts the team but I also saw how much it crushed him when he missed the penalty and Adelaide lost that match which meant they won’t make finals. Being that talisman figure carry’s a lot of pressure and it would be even heavier when it’s for your country.
I can’t wait to see him and green and gold and score for Australia but he for sure needs to decide for himself when he is ready (obviously I don’t know what happens this time around)
