I feel like this is quite a good film but its just so surreal/quirky/bizarre that it's not a film I imagine everyone can/will enjoy but its not a bad film either. I'm sort of on the fence about it as some scenes I thought were quite good and plot wise it has a quite interesting storyline but it is one of those films which, having finished seeing it, I'm left wondering what I'm meant to take away from it. It is somewhat philosophical I guess, perhaps making you think about self identity, how we choose to run away from our humdrum lives and so on. Its a little too bizarre for me but it does work on one level or two. It won't appeal to everyone but I guess if it sounds of interest, then it may be worth seeing, yes.

Lacks emotional depth and the lack of character development is a problem but cinematically speaking Mister Lonely is beautiful, visceral, and spiritual. It's no Spring Breakers (which I loved) but Harmony Korine still serves up a fascinating visual feast.

Pretensioso à brava, algo irritante e ocasionalmente afectado por tiques arty: "Mister Lonely" acumula todos esses defeitos e, ao mesmo tempo, é talvez o melhor filme de Harmony Korine desde "Gummo", ou a sua criação mais troll (adorável e estimável apesar do aspecto). Assim acontece não só porque o seu cerne melodramático é profundamente enternecedor, mas também devido a uma muito convincente comparação entre imitadores de celebridades e freiras, na forma como dedicam as suas vidas à adoração de algo. Harmony Korine, mesmo sem evitar um discurso acidentado que tem tudo a ver com ele próprio, atreve-se a considerar a transição espiritual (rumo ao vazio ou não) como tema para os seus filmes ("Spring Breakers" voltaria a isso). Fá-lo com as mãos afundadas na massa e tão destemidamente como os autores que resistem ao tempo. "Mister Lonely" deixou-me em paz com Harmony Korine.
