It took a while to get going, but Missouri football has finished its 11-win season with a New Year's Six bowl victory in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.

The No. 9 Tigers (11-2, 6-2 SEC) defeated No. 7 Ohio State on Friday night 14-3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, despite being held scoreless in the first half for the first time under coach Eli Drinkwitz.

Entering the second half, Missouri saw itself down 3-0 to the Buckeyes (11-2, 8-1 Big Ten) after converting 1 of 8 third-down attempts and gaining 112 yards. That trend continued into the fourth quarter, with the Tigers still down 3-0.

But they dug deep and manufactured back-to-back touchdown drives of more than 90 yards to secure the victory.

Sixth-year senior running back and consensus All-American Cody Schrader, who ran for 128 yards on 29 carries Friday night, broke the Tigers' single-season record for rushing yards (1,622), held by Tyler Badie (1,604) in 2021.

Quarterback Brady Cook, who was named offensive MVP of the game, rushed 19 times for 66 yards, and completed 11 of 18 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown. He capped it off by threading the needle on a 7-yard touchdown throw to Luther Burden III to take a 14-3 lead.

Ohio State was without starting quarterback Kyle McCord, who transferred to Syracuse, and Biletnikoff Award winner Marvin Harrison Jr., a projected top NFL draft pick who opted out of the game.

Ohio State backup Devin Brown was knocked out of the game in the second quarter due to injury, forcing true freshman Lincoln Kienholz into action.

Third quarter

9:39 p.m.: The Tigers appear to squander a bit of momentum after the long gain, as they commit a substitution infraction and a false start on back-to-back plays. However, Cook takes a designed quarterback run for an eight-yard gain down to the Buckeyes' seven-yard line as the quarter ends.

9:36 p.m.: That'll play. Cook finds Marquis Johnson downfield for a 49-yard gain, the longest play of the game so far by either team. The Tigers are knocking at the Buckeyes' 15-yard line.

9:35 p.m.: Missouri might just be in action now. Following the first-down throw, Schrader runs for 11 yards before Brady Cook runs for 15 yards.

8 p.m.: Mizzou goes with three straight runs to get to fourth-and-1 and converts the attempt after a well-designed run play where Brady Cook rushed up the middle for five yards.

7:54 p.m.: Huge sack by Johnny Walker Jr. forces a three-and-out. Walker Jr. came around Devin Brown's blindside on third-and-5. Brown also fumbled on the play, but Ohio State recovered.
