James Coburn and Octavia Spencer in a movie with just 14 views on Letterboxd? That’s worth a look.
Unfortunately, Spencer is in just one scene. Coburn is in nearly all of them and he’s the main reason to watch this. Missing Pieces is a decent television movie starring Coburn as a rancher who travels to Mexico to learn what happened to his son (Paul Kersey). Nothing groundbreaking, but Coburn, here in the latter part of his career, holds this together with practiced skill and weathered charisma.
The locations (Santa Barbara, standing in for Mexico) are quite beautiful and the shot selections are better than a typical TV production. The supporting cast is not great by any means and the story…
This is a nice little TV movie that appeals to a family friendly audiences despite it's more adult themes. Something you would put on at a weekend BBQ.
