      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though critics say Bullock is funny and charming, she can't overcome a bad script that makes the movie feel too much like a fluffy, unoriginal sitcom.

Audience Member Playful movie with some funny parts - a different setting than normal for this type of movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/06/24 Full Review Jack B A very fresh, funny and cheesy movie well worth the time! Sandra Bullock is awesome! In fact, he entire cast was just great! Caine, Bratt, Bergen and Shatner were so funny! Ignore the mediocre reviews and see for yourself! And, if you didn't watch the sequel, you should! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Julietta : Just an awesome movie I keep coming back to! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Joel H Sandra Bullock is the shining star of Miss Congeniality. She is so entertaining to watch whether she's being the rough & tumble FBI agent or she's playing the part of a beauty queen (er… scholarship recipient). I would say Bullock obviously got in shape for this role by carrying the movie on her shoulders, but the rest of the cast is pretty fantastic, as well. Michael Caine is particularly delightful as the vicious Victor, and Heather Burns is just so sweet & innocent as Miss Rhode Island. It's not a flawless movie, but Miss Congeniality has a unique inner beauty that makes it stand out from the crowd. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Timothy D Miss Congeniality misses as often as it hits. After a slow start, the movie is boosted by pretty faces and a few hilarious moments. Thankfully, the film ends well and leaves a charming aftertaste. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Dizzy D Fantastic movie. Old school ridiculous comedy with tons of laughs. Critics need to lighten up not every movie needs to be a woke statement. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Carrie Rickey Philadelphia Inquirer It's a likeable comedy with many pratfalls, a couple laugh-out-loud moments, and a deep understanding of pageant superficiality. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 5, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Pleasant and entertaining; for teens and older. Rated: 4/5 Dec 26, 2010 Full Review Derek Adams Time Out While there may not be many surprises, there's little to dislike either. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) Here's Sandra Bullock doing what she has always done - playfully splashing about in the middle of the mainstream. Those who enjoy a little mindless diversion won't mind getting wet once again. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 11, 2020 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Its story is far from logical, let alone realistic, yet we laugh and completely buy into the fun.
