As I read this lovely book through tears, it was an amazing story of an amazing miracle and an amazingly lovely family. The Beam family is what all families should aspire to be. I was also certainly kept on the edge of my seat. When God puts a man and wife together, a family together, it's such a wonder to see how they all complement one another, as well as take care of one another. A husband who has certain qualities to support his wife in her time of need, a wife who can appreciate when her husband has finally come back into himself again, laughing, after Anna was healed, sisters who understand their ill sister's needs and her need for their parents attention, yet offer their love and protection at such young ages. God's miracles were quite clear throughout the story, to me, with needs being met, with families drawing together to help, to provide food, take care of the two siblings at home while Anna and Mom are in Boston or the hospitals, financial miracles abound, community and rescue workers showing up and doing what they do. A million little things, all in God's perfect timing. Mrs. Christy Beam, from a personal viewpoint, I can't tell you how your book spoke to ME, because my husband and I just finished one of the most incredibly stressful times in our lives, in which God showed Himself in daily Miracles, and we have some difficult hurdles yet to go through these next few months. I have no doubt God has a plan. In addition, I have been struggling through illness, keeping me bedridden (though healing slowly) and Anna's bright heart spoke to me, saying, be yourself. That I should continue to be MY bright self, because while I'm 59 years old, I still have that little girl in me. I've always approached life that way, like Anna. So while friends and help have fallen away for us for the most part, God provided a sister in law who cooks for us on a regular basis, always showing up on the days when I have no strength to do something as simple as prepare a meal. So when I am in bed during these times, I question, what do I need to change about me? Absolutely nothing. God made me who I am and can use me as I am. And I pray that He will still use me, at my age, to be able to do what I was meant to do.
Thank you, for sharing your family's heart warming story. I have started to write my story as well, and I simply love your writing style, as you sound so much like me! That sense of real-ness and sense of humor, yet total devotion to God. You and your husband and girls inspire me. I was fortunate to be blessed with a Godly husband and we are so opposite in so many ways, yet complement each other in our strengths and weaknesses and agree on the important things. When God gives you a soul mate like that, it makes life so much more complete. You complete each other. God bless you and Anna and all of your family! Can't wait to see what God has in store for three wide eyed girls from Texas!
And by the way, I did NOT find any single piece of your book the least bit boring as one reviewer said. To be honest, it WAS a little hard to follow the back and forth thing in the timeline. I read the Kindle version. Wish there was some way of saying, okay, we're back here, or jumped forward to here. But I can't take off points for that.
