Tom Cruise has a long and interesting history in Hollywood. But even before he became an international star with two high-profile marriages under his belt, and long before he earned headlines for wonky things like hopping the fence to gate-crash Kate Hudson's party, Tom was married to someone totally unknown.

Back in 1987, before he married Nicole Kidman and long before he paired up with Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise married Mimi Rogers (née Spickler).

Mimi was married to James Rogers for four years, another seven years before she married Tom. But after her split from Cruise in 1990, where did Mimi Rogers go?

To answer that, fans need a bit of background. While Tom is arguably the more famous of the two, Mimi had a history in Hollywood, too. She roomed with Kirstie Alley when she first began acting, and later posed for Playboy in 1993.

Mimi earned acting awards, co-starred with Barbra Streisand, became a professional poker player, and did plenty of other things that had nothing to do with her marriage to Tom whatsoever.

In a lot of ways, Mimi was lucky to have divorced Tom before he really grew to significant fame. She's been able to live her life largely out of his shadow all this time. Of course, it's also Mimi who's credited with introducing Cruise to Scientology back in the day (though she is now listed as a former member of the church).

Plus, in 2003, Mimi married Christopher Ciaffa, and the two have been together ever since. The couple had two kids — Lucy and Charlie — and by all accounts, seem pretty happy together.

And Mimi's career didn't fade away, either. She acted in a TV series ('Bosch') up until 2020, notes IMDb, with other credits in recent years including 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' 'Blue Bloods,' and 'NCIS.' She was also in 'Austin Powers' long ago.

Not only has Mimi not fallen from grace following her divorce from Tom, but she's enjoyed a different kind of trajectory altogether. She's worked on TV shows for the most part, but also has over 50 acting credits.

And while she's walking red carpets and starring in hit TV shows, Mimi seems to be a lot more humble than her ex. In fact, early photos of her kids as children in the '90s and '00s suggest that the family lives in the same home that they did more than 20 years ago.

Clearly, Mimi's not a mansion-and-luxury-boat-spending type of celebrity like her ex. The star's relatively modest $10 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth, doesn't measure up to Tom's star value. And yet, Rogers' happy home life is probably worth lots more to her than the apparently empty mansion Cruise goes home to.
