Studying Genetics at UCD

Hi everyone! I am a transfer student that got accepted into Davis, and my goal is to become a Genetic Counselor or an Epidemiologist. My interest in biology is primarily in genetics, and so I wanted to transfer in as a Genetics and Genomics major.

However, I looked at the Anthropology BS degree, and there are a fair amount of genetics/genetics-related courses that I could take under that degree as well. To me, there seems to be greater flexibility in what classes I could take-- instead of taking cell biology or biomolecules classes, I could take less rigorous (and probably more interesting) courses such as intro to public health or intro to human epidemiology, which would probably help keep my GPA up.

Has anyone been in this situation before? I'm planning to go talk to an advisor about this when I transfer, I just wanted to see if there was anything more that I should consider.
