How Liverpool could do with some of their former great strikers just at the moment.
The Reds have been incredibly wasteful in front of goal over the course of the whole season, but matters have come to a head in the past week.
Darwin Nunez has probably been the main culprit, but Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo have all been guilty of missing big chances, too.
Liverpool’s current quintet are unfortunately a far cry from some of the lethal finishers they’ve had in the past. If they had a Robbie Fowler or a Michael Owen right now, for example, they might be well clear at the top of the league.
We’d even settle for Daniel Sturridge or Fernando Torres, anyone who could stick the ball in the net when presented with the chance. According to Everton’s on-loan Brentford striker Neal Maupay though, there’s one player who was even better than all of those names.

Who you see as being the greatest Premier League striker of all time likely depends on your age. For us here at Rousing The Kop, we tend to be of the view that you simply can’t beat Alan Shearer.
However, others of a younger vintage will perhaps name Harry Kane or Sergio Aguero as the best frontman in the division’s history.
That’s before you even get started on whether the likes of Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney were strikers or not.
Salah is another who maybe falls into this bracket, and the Egyptian has previously been named as being one of Liverpool’s best players of all time. In any position.
Anyway, none of those players were the correct answer when Maupay was asked by the Premier League’s official YouTube channel to make his choice.
“Best striker in Premier League history? Luis Suarez,” said the Frenchman. “The seasons he had at Liverpool he was amazing. I remember the game he scored four goals [vs Norwich], but all of them were top goals. Remember that game? Free kicks, volleys, everything. He was such a good player.”

We love this answer from Maupay. He may technically be a Blue, but there is something discernibly likeable about the 27-year-old.
It would have been easy to mention an Henry or an Aguero, most overseas players do when asked this question.
But in our opinion, for sheer brilliance, neither can match Suarez. He may have only spent three-and-a-half years in England and he was only really firing for two of those. But at his best, who was better than him?
Others were more prolific and stayed longer, but in terms of quality of goals and all-round game, Suarez has to be right up there. We’re talking about a man who outscored peak Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to win the European Golden Shoe. Nice to hear some respect put on his name.
