‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked’ season 15 episode 12 recap: ‘Bathroom Hunties’

RuPaul‘s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 22 with episode 12 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the final six queens worked in pairs to design bathroom spaces in “Bathroom Hunties,” a “House Hunters” spoof. Based on critiques from the judges, Sapphira Cristál and Plane Jane were feeling the most confident about their chances at a win as the queens made their way to the Untucked Lounge.

All the queens thought that the challenge and the improv aspect was “harder than the seminars” from last week. That was, in part, why Jane had a “breakdown” in the Werk Room where she showed the first crack in the armor with a lack of confidence going into the performance. She explained that the challenges are getting harder and though she’s “fueled by delusion,” that runs low and “the task seemed a little bit daunting.” While it was clear that Jane and Sapphira were in the top, no one was sure which of the other four would be in the bottom.

Morphine Love Dion admitted that she was “at a 50” while Q was “at a 100” in their performance. She didn’t disagree with the judges saying similar and she thinks it’s hard for her to do improv and come up with things to say in the moment. Nymphia Wind was confused by the critique that she talked too much, but Dawn just pointed out that it was a little bit rambling. Dawn recognized that this was the first time she didn’t feel that positive about where the results were going and was in her head wondering if the other five queens are just better than her.

As a special surprise for Morphine, her drag mother and “literal best friend” Athena Dion sent a video message to encourage her to continue through the rest of the competition and spill the tea on what their relationship is like back home. Mayan Lopez also popped in to chat with the girls and share her thoughts on imposter syndrome, her fandom of “Drag Race” in general and how she feels it has saved her life because queens teach her how to be a strong woman and “find confidence.”

Not knowing if they’d be in the bottom, Q, Nymphia, Morphine and Dawn all listened to the song “Body” to prepare for the Lip Sync for Your Life in case they found themselves in the head-to-head. In the end, it was Morphine vs. Dawn and Morphine came out on top. Following her elimination, Dawn reflected that she “just had fun” in the competition and that made her “feel good.” She said she was surprised that she didn’t have to fight to show the judges her brand of drag and that they “just get it.”
