West Ham table £12.75m bid for 22-goal star that Tottenham scouts watched last month

West Ham have needed a striker for some time. They have tried to bring in a couple, but they have not worked out – with Michail Antonio always ending up the preferred centre-forward under David Moyes.

Tha Hammers have brought in Sebastian Haller, who impressed but only in glimpses. He has since starred at Ajax and Borussia Dortmund, even overcoming cancer. Gianluca Scamacca also went to West Ham.

But the Italy star left after a season and has since been starring at Atalanta, scoring twice at Anfield last week. Under Moyes this season, Antonio has been playing – but Jarrod Bowen has started mostly, up top.

Bowen has been excellent, in the mix for the Premier League golden boot. But ultimately, the England star is a winger, naturally. They need a striker again, with Antonio out of contract at the end of the season.

West Ham need a striker with Michail Antonio future in doubt

It is unclear if the powerhouse forward will put pen to paper on a new deal – but at 34, it seems unlikely that West Ham will give him a new contract. It is claimed West Ham have targeted an Algerian striker.

Mohamed Amoura, 23, has been on fire in Belgium – and in Europe. also scoring against Liverpool for Union St. Gilloise in the Europa League, the forward has 22 goals and six assists for the Belgian outfit.

His form is attracting interest, with reports claiming Tottenham scouts had been to watch the striker last month. Spurs are also in the market for a striker, with Richarlison possibly set to depart in the summer.

But Tottenham are now set to be rivalled by West Ham. Le Soir claim that West Ham have tabled a bid to sign Amoura ahead of the summer, offering a fee of £12.75m to land Said Benraham’s Algeria teammate.

Which club is best for Amoura, Tottenham or West Ham?

Amoura has a big decision to make. A young player with huge potential and certainly, boasting enough quality to score goals in the Premier League. West Ham are direct and need a big striker under Moyes.

Amoura isn’t that. He’s a pocket-sized, speedy striker. That’s why he would surely suit Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, with the Aussie preferring to play with smaller forwards – Son Heung-min, Kyogo for example.

He would get chances in that Spurs side and with the North London club in Europe, he would get plenty of chances. Amoura would be a top signing for both – but USG are said to rate him in the region of £17m.
