Former Ohio State receiver Michael Thomas is staying home in New Orleans — for now. According to several reports, he has signed a restructured deal with the team he broke into the NFL with.
Thomas’ last couple of seasons have been marked by injury. Prior to that, he was considered the best receiver in the game. Because of the health concerns though, Thomas was almost forced to accept a modified contract so the Saints didn’t have to pay him a $31 million roster bonus if still under his previous contract on Friday. Reports have Thomas agreeing to a one-year, $10 million contract that could pay as much as $15 million with incentives.
Thomas signed a massive, five-year $100 million contract extension after he led the NFL with 125 receptions and 1,405 yards in 2018. He followed that with a league-record 129 catches for 1,725 yards in 2019 before the injuries hit beginning in 2020.

The move is the latest restructuring of Thomas’ contract. It will now be up to him to stay on the field and show he’s still one of the best receivers in the game for the 2023-2024 season.
