Does anyone think Michael Madsen is a decent actor?
I can't think of a role I've liked him in, I've never heard anyone deliver lines as poorly as him

Q&A
You gonna bark all day little doggie, or you gonna bite?
I bet you're a big Lee Marvin fan? Me too.
Paint your wagon... with blood.
"Gonna paint a wagon, gonna paint it fine, gonna use oil-based paint because the wood is pine"
One of my all-time favorite Simpsons quote.
Kid Shaleen! ("Cat Ballou")
Loved him in kill bill
reservoir dogs
Love him in hateful eight too
SHUT THE GODDAMNED DOOR!
"PUT TWO NAILS IN! ONES NOT GONNA HOLD SHIT!"
Donnie Brasco
Donnie Brasco is also the answer. Not every rat bastard can upstage Al Pacino. But he got really angry and mean in that movie. True stories, go figure
Sonny Black. Iirc they never recovered his head in real life š³ Edit: the body they found didnāt have hands and was decomposed. Itās not 100% certain that itās his body either.
Are you gonna bark all day little doggy? Or are you gonna bite?
The Hateful Eight was great, too, as was Donnie Brasco.
Nice Guy Eddie: So nobody knows what happened to Mr. Blue?
Mr. Blonde: Either heās alive, or heās dead, or the cops got him, or they donātā¦.?
Hahahaha brilliant lines throughout this whole movie
Stuck in the middle with you..
This is his best one for sure. His friendly, amiable attitude at the beginning somehow fit perfectly into his switch into a cold blooded psychopath. Rewatching his first scenes is eerie, because itās not like heās hiding his true nature, he just thinks nothing of it.
That too!
I'm all ears!
Are you gonna bark all day little doggy...or are you gonna bite...pretty iconic line in cinema
Its the same character....
He was good in Reservoir Dogs, but it was a one note role.
Torture you?
That's a good idea. . . I like that.
Love the scene where he's sat outside his trailer with Bill
"That woman.... deserves her revenge. And... we deserve to die."
I make my Madsen lookalike friend say it all the time. Pretty sure it got him laid once.
Iām a bouncer at a titty bar bill
"....there ain't no one out there to bounce"
"But then again. So does she. So, I guess, we'll just see. Won't we?"
A week ago, I would have said reservoirs dogs as my first shout, but I literally just rewatched both kill bills the other dayā¦ He is quite good in volume 2. A pretty cool character too.
His character seemed to know exactly who he was in Volume 2, which is a trait I find admirable in real life as well.
U hocked a Hatori Hanzo sword? It was priceless.
Lol. Not in El Paso it ain't. In El Paso, I got me $250 dollars for it.
The fact that Budd sits there and lies to Bill, stone-faced. Not too many people would do that willingly, given the way the story unfolds.
Loved his āMaybe we deserve to die.ā monologue outside his trailer.
Word. In that movie I think he very aptly captured a certain sentiment. As much as I generally pride myself on always trying to do the right thing, there's a few times in my life that I've kinda arrived at a certain point and realized that even I am not rooting for me but for various reasons felt unable to change my role or actions. At those times I generally have gotten this sense of grim inevitability and not even tried to step out of the way of consequences - because in the world that I want to live in, FAFO always applies. I feel like he captured that vibe quite well.
Tarantino wrote the part of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction for him but he was tied up doing reshoot for another movie (Wyatt Earp, I believe) and Quentin had to go with his 2nd choice, John Travolta, instead.
Imagine the career Madsen would have had if schedules didn't conflict.
And you'd have to image that Travolta probably would be a distant 70s Barbarino memory & nothing more
He certainly wouldnāt own his own jumbo jet.
Madsen didn't join Scientology. So no, no jumbo jet.
Tarrantino also wanted Lawrence Fishburne to play Jules Winfield, but he couldn't make the film, so Tarrantino cast Samuel Jackson, based on his strength in the Die Hard movie.
It would have been a much different movie with Madsen and Fishburne in those roles.
And Vincent Vega seemed like Vinnie Barbarino in his 40's to me.
Considering Die Hard was released a year later, I don't think that's entirely accurate.
Daddy Daud in Dishonored šš»
That whole cast of Kill Bill were amazing. Hottake but I reckon Daryl Hannah should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress. And dare I say Vivica too.. despite having a very short performance.
I agree. I was a Daryl Hannah fan since seeing her in Blade Runner in the theaters. I loved watching her in this role, another villain but this time an absolute psychopath
"ain't nobody badass with two tits full of rock salt!"
Yessir! One of my favourite lines that I use all the time in real life (mainly with my infant son after giving him a bottle) is, 'That gentled you down some, didn't it?'
"Wakey wakey...eggs and Bacey"
He killed it.
Thereās his nameā¦. Whoops, there went his nameā¦
In the hospital, watched Kill Bill on AMC. That line "That woman Deserves her Revenge. And we deserve to die," gives me a chill every time.
Species.
Wakey Wakey! Eggs and bakey!
He's about as useless as an ass hole right here
Came here to say this
I watched it again the other day he had a distracting amount of makeup on for a dero living in a caravan. But good on him look good feel good.
Heās not exactly the best of the best, sure, but most of what Iāve seen him cast in is perfect. Lack of range doesnāt always mean lack of ability.
Madsen is one of those actors that needs a good director. He isnāt gonna carry the story himself but he is the PERFECT actor with a part written for his demeanor. Probably why is best roles are Tarantino movies. Same with John Travolta.
Well said. And I hope your year in the waste management sector is off to a wonderful start, Mr. Barone.
Fuckin Dick Barone
I took a step back from the company after dying of Lou Gehrig's disease :/
That was well said
So was this
It was at least well spaced.
āLack of range doesnāt always mean lack of abilityā will be Keanu Reeveās eulogy.
And I say this as someone who worships the ground that man walks on.
That's a pretty decent way of looking at it I think
Dude fits in a profile and knows it. Gotta respect that.
Yeah Iād add that he has that āitā quality. Not in droves like a marquee star, but he has some.
You know what they say about actors who get typecast. They pay off their mortgage
Itās the reason I argue with people about Keanu. Keanu is one of the greatest action stars of all time. The physicality he has is not easy. He just has a narrow range.
I think it's kind of a silly question to ask is he a decent actor. I agree with your assessment and think just about anybody who likes the type of movies he's in thinks he's a quite good actor.
I like him. Have you seen hateful eight?
Christmas with mother... It's a beautiful thing.
Iām writing the only thing Iām qualified to writeā¦my life story.
Am I in it?
You just entered.
You know, looks can be deceiving. Because I definitely am the coming-home-for-Christmas-to-spend-time-with-mother type
The most underrated Tarantino film. I loved it
He does a certain sort of character extremely well.
You need someone to play a stoic hardass, maybe with a little empathy, maybe with a little humor, he's your man.
I would say total lack of empathy but otherwise yes.
What about in thelma and louise? Hes great in that, and does the archetype described with lots of empathy
Clowns to left of me, jokers to the right.
Here I am stuck in the middle with you.
