Mike Atherton has been The Times's chief cricket correspondent since 2007. He was formerly captain of the England cricket team between 1993 and 1998, during a career that spanned 13 years. Mike was voted sports writer of the year and specialist correspondent of the year at the Sports Journalists’ Association awards in 2011 and won cricket writer of the year for four consecutive years between 2014 to 2018. He was then voted their specialist correspondent in 2022. He is a peerless chronicler of the sport.
