Miami Dolphins inactives for Week 6 vs. the Jets

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are a little less than an hour from kickoff, and we now know which Dolphins on the 53-man roster will not be suiting up for today’s game. The Dolphins shared the inactives list approximately 90 minutes before kickoff in Week 6.

The inactive list features two prominent decisions for the Dolphins: first and foremost, outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy will not dress for today’s action. A groin issue and also a foot injury contributed to Van Noy’s inactive status — and with the bye week coming on the heels of today’s game against New York, Van Noy should have plenty of time to rest up and get healthy for the 10-game stretch over the remainder of the 2020 season.

The other big decision? Miami deciding to not dress running back Jordan Howard for the second consecutive week. Howard does not seem to have any injury issues, but rather his effectiveness as a short-yardage back has not been what Miami expected or paid for this offseason when they signed him to a two-year contract. Add in Miami’s pursuit of Le’Veon Bell this past week and the writing seems to be on the wall that Howard’s status with the team is on the rocks.

Whether or not the team ultimately decides to bring a fresh back into the picture or not is yet to be determined — but this seems to indicate Miami will likely implement more of the “Wildcat” package with rookie WR Lynn Bowden Jr. again this week.

Miami and New York kick off at 4:05 PM EST from Hard Rock Stadium as the Dolphins looks to climb back up to .500 on the season ahead of their Week 7 bye.
