Who is Archangel Metatron?
What is The Meaning of Metatron?
Although there is no mention of Archangel Metatron in some mainstream religious texts like the Testaments of the Bible, you may have to dig into more occult books like apocalyptic texts, Kabbalistic mystical texts, apocryphal mythology, and other Jewish texts to find some information about him.
One of the meanings of the name Metatron would be “He who occupies the throne next to the Divine throne”.
This interpretation may come from a combination of two Greek words, “meta” meaning “after”, and “thronos” meaning “throne”, literally “He who serves behind the throne”, which refers to Metatron being the closest angel to God.
It is also said that Metatron is a derivation of the name “Yahweh”, the Jewish name for the unspoken name of God.
The name of Metatron could also derive from the Latin word “meteor“, meaning “guide” or “measure”.
According to the chronicles of Enoch, Metatron also has seventy-eight other names, all based on the name of God.
The powerful archangel Metatron holds many titles as he is referred to as the Prince of the Divine Presence, Prince of the Torah, Chancellor of Heaven, King of Angels, Prince of Princes, Angel of Humankind, Angel of Death, Angel of Music, Heavenly Scribe, Keeper of the Book of Life.
Why is Metatron so Powerful?
Although Metatron is said to be the youngest of the archangels as his creation occurred after the other archangels, Metatron is considered to be the most powerful one and the closest to God. He is even put above Archangel Michael and Gabriel in the angelic realm.
Being the greatest angel in Heaven, Metatron’s reputation as a futuristic super-being comes from the fact that he stands in the 22nd dimension and is the head of the archangels, according to famous author Diana Cooper.
Metatron is a universal angel whose spiritual power reaches out into the cosmos and influences many planes of existence.
What Did Metatron Do?
The third book of Enoch tells us that Metatron was once the biblical prophet Enoch, said to have “walked with God”, in the book of Genesis.
As a student of heavenly secrets and Divine wisdom, the wise prophet Enoch received “The Book of the Angel Raziel“, a sacred book about God’s workings.
As a result, God gave Enoch angel status and placed him in the seventh Heaven – the highest level of the Divine universe – to reside and work.
Metatron was also given 36 pairs of wings and innumerable eyes as he transformed into one of the most powerful archangels.
He was then given a similar mission in the higher realms as a celestial scribe to record everything that happens on Earth and keep it in the Akashic records, also known as the Book of Life.

Metatron’s twin brother or twin flame is Archangel Sandalphon, also known in his human incarnation as the prophet Elijah.
They are the two angels in Heaven who were once in a human form and both are universal angels.
