Merrifield
Merrifield is a suburb of Washington, D.C. in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia. Understand[edit]In past years, Merrifield was mainly a warehouse district, with some scattered ethnic (Latino and Asian) shops due to its location at a highway intersection. Nowadays, mixed use developments are popping up where warehouses and open land used to exist. Merrifield is located at one of the crossroads of Northern Virginia, at the southwest corner of the Beltway (I-495) and I-66. It is centered at the intersection of Lee Highway (US 50) and Gallows Road. Commercial development extends out roughly 1/2 mile in each direction. Immediately southwest of this intersection is the large mixed-use Mosaic District, the 2nd largest mixed use living/dining/shopping area in Fairfax County, behind only Reston. Note that various local establishments may have addresses with a city of Falls Church, Fairfax, or Vienna, yet all be geographically located in Merrifield. Get in[edit]By car[edit]From the West: Take the VA-243 Nutley Street Fairfax (Vienna/Fairfax Metro) exit South. Turn left onto Lee Hwy and drive for 2 miles. From the South: Take the Gallows Road (51) off of I-495. Turn left, and drive for 1 mile. From the East or North: Head South on I-495 to the Arlington Blvd. westbound exit (50A). Take the sub-exit for Merrifield, and turn right on Gallows Road. By metro[edit]The Dunn Loring/Merrifield station is located between the Vienna/Fairfax/GMU station to the west, and the West Falls Church station to the east on the orange line. If you are looking to go to the Mosaic District, there is a shuttle during weekday commuting hours that makes its stop in front of District BBQ and BB&T Bank. By bus[edit]Bus 2A operates service between Ballston station in Arlington and Dunn Loring/Merrifield station. For more information on riding the Metrobus, see Washington DC#Get_In. Bus 401 & 402 operates service from Tysons Corner metro station to Franconia/Springfield metro station, making stops at Dunn Loring/Merrifield station and Mosaic district. 401 runs northbound (Franconia to Tysons), and 402 runs southbound (Tysons to Franconia). In addition to the usual Harris Teeter (next to the metro station), Target (inside Mosaic district), and Aldi (northeast of the Gallows Road and Arlington Blvd interchange), there is a Great Wall supermarket and H Mart for Asian groceries, and a Mom Organic grocery store inside Mosaic. Inside of Mosaic, you can find retail shopping, including Neiman Marcus Last Call, Anthropologie, West Elm, The Shade Store, and Great Gatherings. Diagonal across Mosaic is the Merrifield Garden Center, one of the largest garden centers in Fairfax County. You can get expert advise on landscaping needs, or take classes to learn more about gardening. Eat[edit]Adjacent to the Metro:
