Mehdi (Arabic: المَهْدِي, romanizedal-mehdi) is a common Arabic masculine given name, meaning "rightly guided".[1] People with the name Mehdi generally originate from Iran, with other notable countries of origin being: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, France, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United States of America.[2]

This name is a variation of the name Mahdi which has an Arabic origin. Other, less common, variations are Medi, Mehti, Meyti, Metti, Madi, Maadi.
