An apppointment with Neighbours doctor Karl Kennedy launches June at Newark’s Palace Theatre.

Actor Alan Fletcher will discuss is time as Ramsay Street’s most famous doctor and plans for the future of the soap at the Palace on Thursday, June 1.

The Doctor Will See You Now will feature video footage, live musical performances, behind the scenes gossip, and a question-and-answer session.

The following night – June 2 – sees legendary Motown act The Drifters at the venue performing their hits, including Saturday Night at the Movies, You’re More Than A Number, Come on Over to My Place, Under the Boardwalk, and many more.

Under the guidance of Tina Treadwell (daughter of the group’s original founders, George & Faye Treadwell) The Drifters have enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in recent years with multiple successful UK tours.

In contrast, The History Of Rock is at the Palace on June 3 with a celebration of the genre through the decades.

Featuring the music of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, Queen and many more, it is the chance to rediscover the seeds of rock & roll in the 1950s, the birth of rock in the 60s, right through to the classic rock of the 70s and 80s.

Totally Tina comes to the Palace on Friday, June 9, with a tribute to Tina Turner.

Justine Riddoch stars as the powerhouse singer, taking the audience through Tina’s extensive back catalogue.

It includes River Deep - Mountain High, Nutbush City Limits, We Don’t Need Another Hero, Simply the Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It, I Don’t Wanna Lose You and When The Heartache Is Over.

A haunting night is in store on Saturday, June 10, with Do You Believe In Ghosts?

Described as an experiential ghost story, unlike anything you have ever experienced before, join the team as they will tell all the secrets of what goes on when the theatre goes dark.

It has an age recommendation of 12-plus.

The Ladyboys Of Bangkok bring their cabaret show back to the Palace on Wednesday, June 14.

Featuring a cast of 16 male Thai nationals, this fast-moving large-scale production is not rude or crude, it is cheeky, funny, and filled with star-spangled sassiness. In a 90-minute theatrically choreographed show, there are more than 400 costumes and big dance production numbers.

The music of Genesis is celebrated on Friday, June 16, along with the biggest selling acts connected to the band – Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Mike & the Mechanics.

Genesis Connected includes Turn It On Again, Sledgehammer, In The Air Tonight, Over My Shoulder, Against All Odds, That’s All, Solsbury Hill, You Can’t Hurry Love, The Living Years and many more.

The frontman, Pete Bultitude, is not only an incredibly versatile vocalist, he is also a truly gifted drummer just like Phil Collins, So expect the show to include the iconic “double drums” element as featured on every Genesis and Phil Collins tour.

Newark’s Steve Steinman is back at the venue on Saturday, June 17, with Anything For Love – The Meatloaf Story.

For more than 30 years Steve has toured the world with his musical tribute to Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf.

With an incredible stage set, ten-piece live band combined with Steve’s well known sense ofhumour and stage presence, the show will have you up on your feet dancing and singing out loud to some of Meat Loaf’s greatest hits.

Join forensics lecturer Jennifer Rees for a talk on Psychology Of Serial Killers on Wednesday, June 21.

She will reveal how serial killers are classified, the differences between lust killers and visionary killers, and debunk common serial killer myths.

An accurate and authentic celebration of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is at the Palace on Friday, June 23 in Frankie – The Concert.

An award-winning cast and eight-piece band recreate the powerful falsetto of the Sixties and Seventies icon whose hits included December 1963, Let’s Hang On, Sherry and Walk Like A Man.

Last but not least, Cockney Rebel Steve Harley is at the venye on Friday June 30, with his acoustic band.

The Acoustic Band tour sees Steve supported by long-standing bandmate, violinist/guitarist Barry Wickens, with Oli Hayhurst on double bass, and Dave Delarre on lead guitar playing his greatest hits.
