West Ham United: Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet ruled out v Southampton – Injury Expert

West Ham United are set to be without Maxwel Cornet and Nayef Aguerd for the Premier League clash against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, according to Ben Dinnery.

The Irons make the trip down south this weekend (16 October) looking to continue their brilliant form in the Premier League against a struggling Saints.

David Moyes will want to keep as many of his players fit with Michail Antonio also suffering from illness through the week, as he missed the Anderlecht game on Thursday.

Injury Expert, Dinnery shared the latest news on the squad on his Premier Injuries website, with both expected to return before the end of the month.

Cornet is struggling with a calf strain and is predicted to be back available on the 24th of October when the Irons take on Bournemouth on Monday Night Football.

Aguerd is yet to make his competitive debut after confirming his big-money signing and then suffering that ankle injury, but could return days later in the Europa League tie with Silkeborg.

Good News?

In a strange way, this is brilliant news.

Having Cornet and Aguerd back within the next week or two will hand us that full-strength side that we have been begging for, for what seems like months now.

Moyes will be rubbing his hands together at that prospect, although the squad has to get through that period with no new blows of course.

With two games nearly every single week, the football calendar can be gruelling, even for the fittest of players, but thankfully, it hasn’t been too bad recently on the injury front.

Aguerd may need to play some under-23s football first, so the Silkeborg game may come too early, but November could be a target to make sure he is fit ahead of the World Cup.

GSBK spent big to make sure that the West Ham United squad had depth this summer, and injuries prevented that at first, so with results improving, they are surely only going to get even better with this news coming this month.
