Veteran QB Matt Schaub retires after 16 seasons

Veteran quarterback Matt Schaub is retiring after 16 seasons in the NFL, Atlanta Falcons team owner Arthur Blank said Monday.

Schaub, 39, spent parts of seven seasons (2007-13) as the Houston Texans' starting quarterback before becoming a backup for the Raiders, Ravens and Falcons.

He finishes his NFL career with 25,467 passing yards, 136 touchdowns and 91 interceptions.
