I believe in "a different kind of leadership," where the state should do a few things and do them well, leaving the rest to Georgians and elected officials. I know the national pandemic has hurt many of us. We have all grieved and we must all stand together to safely emerge from this difficult situation.

  • I believe we must grow the economy safely, get our children educated safely and ensure our community has the resources it needs. The biggest challenge to the district is COVID-19 and its future effects on the community and economy and we need to safely stabilize the economy
  • We need bipartisan problem-solving and fiscal conservatism in state government, focused on common ground and common sense issues for the benefit of our local community in North Fulton and Gwinnett County.
  • The lingering effects of C-19 will have an impact on family, business, local government, school, and state operations and budgets, so the next District 48 State Senator will need to be an effective advocate in the 35-21 Republican Majority State Senate to help our community overcome these challenges. Keeping our local schools, jobs, healthcare, transportation, law enforcement, and other quality of life pillars strong during the uncertainty of Covid-19 is necessary.

When making decisions in the Senate, I promise to be an unwavering advocate for taxpayers, homeowners and small business people.

Unlike my opponent, I will keep the HOPE grant funded and merit based. It's worked very well for the last 25 years. There are other ways to help students pay for college that exist but the HOPE grant is the only one there for kids who work hard.

I am a firm believer in keeping Georgia's best and brightest students here in Georgia.
I support the 'Keep Georgia Kids First Act', which would require Georgia's four leading research universities to offer at least 90 percent of early admissions to state residents.

I will fight to cut the state income tax on families and businesses, cap government spending and focus tax dollars on essentials that promote private sector job growth like law enforcement, local schools, and workforce-oriented transportation and mobility improvements.

Medicaid expansion would triple government spending, produce scant improvement in health outcomes and increase emergency room usage.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Georgia

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Georgia scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
