Though choppy at times, Matador is fast-paced, silly fun that benefits from not taking itself too seriously.

Audience Member Great character driven crime drama with a hint of SciFi. A real shame that season 2 although authorized was never made. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member finally a cool show about soccer Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite the constant comparisons, Matador is no "Bond, James Bond"; rather than be a tense, theatrical spy series with increasingly ridiculous gadgets, Matador doesn't take itself too seriously. In fact, it's downright hilarious, full of snippy one-liners and the kind of gloriously sarcastic people that I, unfortunately, am not surrounded by in real life. There are still high stakes, and a good amount of violence, but above all else Matador seeks to entertain. And entertain it does. http://popinsomniacs.com/2014/07/tv-review-el-rey-networks-entertaining-spy-drama-matador-mixes-tequila-violence-and-soccer/ Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Show!Action thriller, some comedy ,, New show ,so takes a bit to "get it",,but once you`re hooked your in!!,can`t what for next episode... Allison Keene Hollywood Reporter As a summer series in the wake of World Cup fever, perhaps Matador's biggest success it having arrived at the right time. Jul 17, 2014 Full Review Molly Eichel AV Club The show is weighed down by clunky dialogue and a lead who was not particularly dazzling in the initial episode sent out to critics. Luna's Bravo lacks that James Bond je ne sais quoi, even if he's a reluctant participant in his own plot. Rated: C+ Jul 17, 2014 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz New York Magazine/Vulture The show is a compendium of high-octane clichs, just clever enough that you can't call it stupid and just stupid enough that you can't call it clever. That's a sweet spot, maybe. Jul 16, 2014 Full Review Max Nicholson IGN Movies While El Rey's Matador won't have the viewers yelling "Gooooal!", the show's unique, frenetic style will still probably catch their attention. Rated: 6.7/10 Jul 17, 2014 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette A fun, entertaining action show, the timing is right for Matador after soccer's rising American prominence, thanks to World Cup fever. Jul 15, 2014 Full Review Ryan Sandoval TV.com I had a lot of fun with the pilot and want to see how silly-awesome things get. So yeah, watch it. Jul 14, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews
