As a sculptor, I have a need to create and sculpting is my way to do so. My first love is stone carving; however, I also create pieces in clay, bronze and cement. I take great satisfaction from working with nature's materials to form shapes and images pleasing to the senses. The core of my work is abstract and figurative; my favorite subject is the female body. The simplicity of design and flowing lines of my work entice the viewer to touch the finished piece.

I received my formal training from the Art Institute of Chicago. I have participated in many exhibitions and master classes and have received numerous awards including a McKnight Foundation Individual Artist Grant and Fellowship.  In 2002, I was commissioned to sculpt a life-sized Ojibwa Indian woman in limestone commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Otter Tail County, MN Historical Society.

I share my love of art with others.  I have taught classes in figurative clay sculpting nearly every year since 1997, most on behalf of the Battle Lake, MN Art of the Lakes organization and more recently the Henning, MN Landmark Center.
