That's the situation six Los Angeles teenagers find themselves in when they stumble upon a terrible secret and realize that their parents have been lying to them for their entire lives. The offspring begin an investigation to try to figure out what their guardians are after, while the adults wonder if their kids are hiding secrets of their own. The unlikely crew of teens bands together -- led by de facto leader and primary strategist Alex Wilder -- to stop their parents before it is too late. The Marvel series is from executive producer Josh Schwartz, whose resume of young-adult fare includes "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl." Critics Consensus

Earnest, fun, and more balanced than its source material, Runaways finds strong footing in an over-saturated genre.

Maureen Ryan Variety Ultimately, "Runaways" seems a little too tentative for its own good - which is weird, given that the drama is about wielding power, for both good and ill. Jul 16, 2018 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) The Breakfast Club meets X-Men with a splash of Stranger Things thrown in, Marvel's Runaways is the richest, best-realized Marvel drama of the new TV season. Jul 16, 2018 Full Review Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya Autostraddle Runaways has only just skimmed the surface of its multidimensional world and complex emotional narrative, and I'm already hooked. Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Michael Cuby them. Runaways is a refreshing addition to the catalogue. Oct 12, 2022 Full Review Drew Dietsch FANDOM The great concept, solid cast, and propulsive mystery make this feel fresh and exciting. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 29, 2021 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast While the music and sunny vibes are appropriate, the lethargic pacing and additional focus on the adults makes the series feel drawn out and suggests Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage misunderstood the appeal of the comic Sep 24, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Brii I loved all 3 seasons of this shows and I wish it was more seasons! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/23 Full Review Cineasta Y intrigante ,juvenil ,fresca ,una trama solida y personajes entrañables forman una gran temporada muy entretenida Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/23 Full Review DoubleU G I could never watch past this season, but the character development is amazing and I had fun with it. I will resume it again someday and I hope the other seasons are as good or better. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Dennis R I agree that the teens act like teens, seeing everything in black and white, good vs bad. It just got old after a while. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/22 Full Review edward f This show was unbelievably awful. The only reason I pushed through it was because it was a part of the MCU. There isn't a single likable character, and the acting is terrible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review hunter w Moved way too slow for my liking, and took itself much too seriously. I got halfway through, but as far as I can tell there wasn't a single joke in there. It also stretched out the generally awkward 'Is this happening? Are our parents really supervillains?' phase over six episodes, throwing in some romance and teenage drama without really giving us a reason to care for said teenagers. Also, as a personal opinion, I found Gert really annoying. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to like her for her social justice activism. I haven't read the comics it's based on, so maybe it's supposed to be like that, but focusing so much on the parents made the plot unbearably scattered.
