Martin Behnke was born 1978 in East-Berlin. He studied Drama Studies and English at the University of Leipzig and Screen-Writing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. Together with director Burhan Qurbani he wrote the screenplay for WE ARE YOUNG. WE ARE STRONG which was released in German cinemas in January 2015. The film won many awards at national and international festivals and was nominated for the German Film Award in the categories “Best Film”, “Best Cinematography” and “Best Supporting Actor”. Burhan Qurbani and Martin Behnke also co-wrote new adaptation of BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ which is currently in the shooting and will be released in 2019 For the adaptation of the children's book LATTE HEDGEHOG AND WATER STONE he received the German Animation Screenplay Award. Film is in production an will be released in 2019. Martin has co-written the ARD miniseries DIE STADT UND DIE MACHT (Director: Friedemann Fromm) and two seasons of the Netflix Original series DARK (Director: Baran Bo Odar). Together with writer Jaroslav Rudis he created the ARD crime-series KOLLER
