Mark AC Monroe, age 70 of Tecumseh passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at home with his family by his side. He was born June 18, 1952 in Lansing, a son of the late Gary Joseph Marsene Monroe and Florence (Artum) Bartley. On September 19, 1981 in Jackson, he married Janet Marie Beveridge, they have shared 41 years together.
Mark was an EMT Specialist and firefighter instructor with the Tecumseh Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 2018. He enjoyed target shooting, skydiving and was a jump master. Mark enjoyed doing photography even placing a darkroom at his home to develop his pictures. He loved walking and listening to all kinds of music. Most of all Mark loved to help people whenever he could.
Besides his wife, Janet, Mark is survived by his children, Holly (Nicholas) Risch of Tecumseh and Nathan (Lelia) Monroe of Friendsville, TN; step-mom, Janet Monroe of Mt. Pleasant; siblings, Gary Monroe of Lansing, Brenda (Mark) Schmink of Mason and Derrick (Debbie) Monroe of Racine, WI; six grandchildren, Xzander, Zayden, Wyatt, Meiah, Arianna and Weston; close personal friends, Dave Borton of Adrian and Jake Warner of Tecumseh. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Monroe.
Visitation for Mark will be from 11 am – 1 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Eric Love officiating. Inurnment will be in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hidden Lake Gardens, Tecumseh Firefighters Association and Hospice of Lenawee.
