MARC student Izzy R. took first place in her category in the Golden Gate STEM Fair. Her project, Monarch Butterflies & Long Term Abundance Patterns of Asclepias curassavica, also earned her the National Geographic Award.

FVS Students spent the week learning about Malama ‘Aina (to care for the land that feeds us). Diving headfirst into nature on the island of Kauai to better understand the long-lasting effects that our small choices can have on our planet.

In this mincourse, Build an Electric Guitar, students learn a great deal about the scientific and engineering principles underlying the electric instruments that continue to drive much of today’s music, as well as the history of how these instruments were invented and developed.
The MARC program is specifically designed to engage students in science and engineering research that is characteristic of college-level courses.

Earlier this month, Hidden Histories went to the Mission in SF with Rio Yanez to better understand the impact of gentrification on the neighborhood and the street art movement.
This year’s Conference on Democracy, an annual MA Tradition, centers us around Democracy in the Digital Age, a theme increasingly relevant in an age of truth, media, and influence. The Conference is approaching fast and will take place on March 29th. We hope to see you there!
Earlier this month, the 9th grade Education Exploration group worked with children, faculty, and staff at Laurel Dell, Sun Valley, and San Pedro Elementary schools. MA students were in classrooms working on reading, math, and music with the younger students.
