There's much more to Mare of Easttown than its headlining star, Kate Winslet, and her buzzed-about Pennsylvania accent. HBO's crime drama really is an ensemble production, set in a small Pennsylvania town where everybody knows each other—as well as their parents and kids—on a first name basis. The snug, familiar community makes a fascinating backdrop to a series of disturbing events, including a murder and a missing girl. But it's also easy to lose track of the many characters whose lives intertwine with Mare's and her latest case. Here, we outline who's who in Mare of Easttown.

Kate Winslet as Mare Sheehan
The Oscar winner needs no introduction, but if you need a refresher, perhaps Titanic, The Reader, Revolutionary Road, and The Holiday might ring a bell.
Winslet leads as Mare, a no-fuss detective and divorcée who's well embedded in Easttown. To this day she's still celebrated for her legendary basketball win from high school.
Jean Smart as Helen
You've seen Smart in Watchmen, Sweet Home Alabama, and Designing Women. Here, she plays Helen, Mare's mother.
Evan Peters as Detective Colin Zabel
Known for roles in American Horror Story and X-Men (and a recent cameo in WandaVision), Peters plays Colin Zabel, a county detective called in to work with Mare on the investigation.
Cailee Spaeny as Erin McMenamin, Patrick Murney as Kenny McMenamin
Up-and-comer Spaeny (Devs, On the Basis of Sex, The Craft: Legacy) plays local teen Erin McMenamin, whose murder is at the center of Mare's case.
Patrick Murney (Seven Seconds) plays Erin's dad.
John Douglas Thompson as Chief Carter
Thompson (The Letter Room) is Chief Carter, Mare's boss.
Guy Pearce as Richard Ryan
The Memento and L.A. Confidential star plays Richard Ryan, an author and creative writing professor who's new to Easttown.
Julianne Nicholson as Lori Ross
Nicholson (pictured left) plays Mare's childhood best friend Lori. Before the HBO series, she appeared in The Outsider and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Angourie Rice as Siobhan Sheehan
After appearing in Black Mirror and Tom Holland's Spider-Man films, Rice shares the screen with Winslet as Mare's teenage daughter, Siobhan.
David Denman as Frank Sheehan
Fans of The Office may know him as Roy, but in Easttown, David Denman is Frank Sheehan, Mare's ex-husband and Siobhan's father, who is about to get married again.
Robert Tann as Billy Ross, Joe Tippett as John Ross
Tann (Preacher) plays Billy Ross, John Ross's brother.

Kassie Mundhenk as Moira Ross
Mare of Easttown marks the biggest role yet for up-and-comer Mundhenk, who plays John and Lori’s daughter, Moira. Before the HBO series, the actress and model has made appearances in Eighth Grade and Law & Order.
