Mancini leapfrogs Lippi in all-time Italy coach chart - Football Italia

Roberto Mancini will tonight surpass Marcello Lippi and Cesare Prandelli as the third coach with the most games on the Italy bench.

The Azzurri are in Vienna for a friendly against Austria, which kicks off at the Ernst Happel Stadion at 19.45 GMT.

It is going to be Mancini’s 57th match on the Italy bench and so far he has won 37, drawn 13 and lost only six fixtures.

His Nazionale scored 123 goals and conceded 41.

This allows him to overtake 2006 World Cup winner Lippi and Prandelli, who both achieved 56 games at the helm.

Only two coaches are now above Mancini in the all-time charts, and both of those won World Cups.

They are Enzo Bearzot on 88 games and Vittorio Pozzo with 95.

Mancini made his debut on the Azzurri bench with a 2-1 friendly victory over Saudi Arabia on May 28, 2018 and went on to win the European Championship last summer.

  1. He won Italy the Euros but has been a disaster ever since his record unable to beat Switz,NI, Bulgaria is worse than Ventura failure who had a stronger group and playoff match,
I wish Mancini had decided resigned its not going to get any better for him

  2. i like Mancini. he was brave enough to come in at the darkest hour. went on to go a world record undefeated streak win the euros. had a chance to win the nations league, and looked certain to go to Qatar 2022, then… brought Italy back to the darkest hour. had he gotten to Qatar i truly believe Azzurri would favorites at least to make semifinals. then no doubt he would be in top 3 greatest Azzurri coaches of all-time.
