Platt
Platt started 2021 with a strong awards season for his Netflix feature, “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, which received six Oscar nominations, including his third for best picture (following 2016’s “La La Land” and 2015’s “Bridge of Spies”). Platt then performed well enough with his “101 Dalmatians” prequel “Cruella” to quickly earn a sequel order from Disney. The year also saw the release of his Netflix action-spoof “Thunder Force,” his HBO Max factual feature “Oslo,” and his big-screen adaptation of musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” in which his son Ben Platt reprised the title role he originated in the Tony-winning stage production. Platt’s current slate includes the Netflix romcom “Players” and the live-action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
