The classy central defender received his first senior call-up in March 2022, when Gareth Southgate named him in the squad to face Switzerland and Cote d'Ivoire at Wembley Stadium.

His call came on the back of an excellent campaign with Crystal Palace, where he'd made the switch across London from Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

Ironically Guéhi was born in Abidjan, capital of Cote d'Ivoire, before he moved to London with his family at the age of one and began playing local junior football before being picked up by Chelsea's academy at the age of six.

As he rose through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge, he was also becoming a regular on the international stage with the Young Lions, earning caps at MU16 and MU17s level.

And in 2017, he was a key member of the England MU17s squad who reached the final of the U17 EUROs before going on to win the FIFA U17 World Cup in India later that year with Guéhi scoring in the Young Lions' 5-2 win over Spain in the final.

After that, he featured for the MU19s and MU20s before he was called to join the MU21s for the first time in 2021 as they began a new EURO qualifying campaign under Lee Carsley, who subsequently named him as captain.

Prior to his move to Crystal Palace, Guéhi had picked up experience on loan with Swansea City where his former England MU17s head coach Steve Cooper was the manager.
