Marc has played guitar and toured with Warner Bros. recording artists Toy Matinee along with producer/composer Kevin Gilbert as well as recording two critically-acclaimed guitar instrumental albums for Reprise, “EE Ticket” and “American Matador” and has just released a third highly-anticipated album “Celluloid Debris”. He has also produced, recorded and performed with several artists including Keith Emerson, Ronnie Montrose, Gamma, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Eddie Jobson (U.K.), Slash, Rob Halford, David Coverdale, Peter Frampton, Sammy Hagar, Paul Rogers, Joe Perry, Edgar Winter, Ambrosia, The Manhattans, The Chi-Lites, Robbie Kreiger (The Doors), Tesla, Ricky Martin, Don Felder, Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap), Felix Calvaliere (Rascals), Mickey Dolenz, Steve Lukather and Steve Porcaro (Toto), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rick Wakeman ( Yes), Thomas Lang, and many others.
Over the past twenty-five years he has composed and performed for numerous television shows and major motion pictures including The Bourne Legacy, Green Lantern, Iron Man 2, The Scorpion King, The Replacements, Falling Down, Terminal Velocity, Waterworld, Mad Money, Spy Kids, Spiderman 2, Bruce Almighty, Las Vegas, Kid Notorious, ER, The PJ’s, and Beverly Hills 90210. He has collaborated with such notables as James Newton Howard, John Debney, Joel McNeely and Snuffy Walden. He received an Emmy nomination in 2001 for his score for David Milch’s “Big Apple”. He also spent six seasons with Steve Porcaro composing and performing for the hit television show “Justified” and also served as composer for Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”.
He also continues to work and tour with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Danny Seraphine, co-founder of Chicago and California Transit Authority. He has produced, written and performed on two CTA album releases “Full Circle” and “Sacred Ground”. Marc’s close association with keyboard wizard Keith Emerson of ELP fame began in 1988 when the two met for an album project produced by Kevin Gilbert, which was released as “Changing States” and “Hammer It Out”. Marc and Keith joined forces with Glenn Hughes and Ronnie Montrose in 1998 and toured under the moniker “The Boys Club” resulting in a live album “Live From California”. Marc joined the Keith Emerson Band and produced, co-wrote and recorded the album “Keith Emerson Band featuring Marc Bonilla” in 2008. Shortly thereafter the Keith Emerson Band toured Japan and Europe and released the live DVD/CD “Moscow”. Marc recently helmed the “Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert” in L.A. with such notables as Jordan Rudess, Brian Auger, Steve Porcaro, Steve Lukather, Eddie Jobson, Vinnie Coliauta, Skunk Baxter, Gregg Bissonette, CJ Vanston, Philippe Saisse, Joe Travers, Troy Luccketta, and several others. Plus, he will be performing in 2023 as lead singer / guitarist for the supergroup Asia on their 40th anniversary tour.
He has also performed with several orchestras throughout the world in China, Mongolia, London, Birmingham, Russia and Germany. The most current releases being “Three Fates Project” with the Munich Radio Orchestra and “Beyond The Stars” with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, conducted by Maestro Terje Mikkelsen. The albums feature compositions and orchestrations by both Marc and Keith Emerson, introducing the genre of ‘Symphonic Fusion’. In 2015 the project was debuted at Barbican Hall in London with the BBC Orchestra.
He has also produced and founded the indie band Saville Row along with Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta and released the debut album “The Way Around It” in 2014. Marc was also featured on the album “10×10 – A Tribute to Ronnie Montrose” along with Sammy Hagar, Joe Bonamassa, Tommy Shaw, Brad Whitford, Mark Farner and others. He also manned the guitar position on the television special “A Concert for Ronnie Montrose” on AXS TV.
Marc is currently residing and working in L.A. and has now set aside time between tours and projects to teach guitar, songwriting and orchestration.
