The museum is celebrating its 100 years. Well worth a visit, and a new permanent exibition showing the Isle Of Man TT. The TT exibition, is new and shows the history of the TT including the trophies. There is a lot to see at the museum, with reguards the history of the isle of man.

    TT treasure trove
The TT exhibit is very well done. It covers epic milestones of event in an original way, including the fans perspective. There are some great artifacts to tell the full story of this unique event, from TT condoms to Foggys' 1992 Yamaha. A highlight is getting up close to the gleaming Senior TT trophy, with the names of TT legends going back to 1907. It's well worth a visit and free too :) The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and stored my bike kit whilst I visited.

A Fabulous Insight to the History of the Isle of Man
I very well laid out set of exhibits, the staff were very helpful on arrival giving me an insight to what I would see and an advised route. The Museum is free and relies on donations, give generously. the exhibits were of great interest, each telling another part of the story. I particularly liked the Viking section and spent some time there. The jewellery in particular was amazing. A very enjoyable couple of hours spent here, the museum is well laid out and informative, with sections for the children to investigate and enjoy.

    Nice, little museum
A good museum of old and new. There is a short video behind the reception telling the history of the island. The exhibits range from Neolithic to modern wars with even a TT game for people to play. Well worth o look on a wet, cold or even sunny day as it doesn’t take long to look around.

    Great for a rainy.
Probably wouldn't have visited this museum but as the weather was really bad it got us out of the rain, There was much more to it than i expected and most of it was interesting and informative, i would say there was something for everyone. My husband was particularly interested in the TT races gallery. For myself it was the history of the island. Glad we went.

    Great for kids
Great museum especially for kids. Bigger than we thought and lots of interactive activities. Our daughter loved the Mission 100 activity around the museum. Great rainy day afternoon here.

    Interesting Morning
We spent an interesting morning in this lovely museum, while on holiday. Would recommend watching the film at the start of your visit. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The staff are friendly & helpful. Free entry, but a donation is suggested. We also bought a guide book.
Thank you for your feedback and for supporting our charity through making a donation and purchasing a guidebook. This is greatly appreciated.

    Good Viking collections
Various rooms focusing on different aspects and period of island life. Definitely worth a visit. Shame the cafe has been closed as it’s quite a lot to walk around in one go and being able to get a cuppa seems a logical accompaniment and good source of income. I bought a 5 day Go Explore Heritage pass for an extra £22 on the basis it included free entry to national museums, but many, like this one, seem to be free anyway!

    A Better understanding of Man
For many of us our knowledge of the Isle of Man is around the TT race. Of course, there’s more Mann and this museum is a great place to start and education as well as the thrill of TT! 1907 was first race and it’s still going on! By the way, I usually skip videos at museums but the one here is really good history of the isle.

Fantastic museum, loads to see and very informative. Told us so much about IOM history. There should be a charge as people think it’s not very good

Went there while in a weekend watching a football match and wanted a bit of culture. Staff on the door were really friendly, even if one was originally from Bolton, ( we were there to watch a Bury game) and told us about the video about that history of the island that was about to start. The museum itself was informative and interesting showing the art, culture and history of the IOM. what did shock me was the TT exhibition. Never been interested in motorbikes or the TT but this exhibition really made it seem interesting and I will definitely pay an interest when it is next on. Go. Its interesting. Its informative. You'll like it and its free although a contribution is requested and I'll be honest its deserved.

Possibly the best museum I have ever visited. Fascinating artefacts very well presented and guaranteed to interest all ages, Apart from the intriguing history of the Island there is also an excellent section devoted to the TT. And on top of that it is FREE

Vast array of Manx artifacts showing the history of Mann.
From the earliest of times, stone tools through the bronze age.
The life of the early celts & then viking settlers.
The maritime heritage of our island nation.
A wonderful TT section covering these famous races from 1907 through to today's heroes.
A very pleasant & informative day for all the family.

We had low expectations of this museum and this proved very wrong. We were three older aged adults and I was in an electric wheelchair and we could access all areas. There were a lot of interactive displays, it’s a lot more varied than you would think, including a big area devoted to the TT race. The whole island supports this event and a lot have been involved for several years. The staff are friendly and chatty and the changing places toilet is very spacious and well equipped. They are very proud of it. 😊
The only small negative was the journey up to the museum from the Sefton hotel. It is a steep uphill walk with nice views at times but can be hard going. It was a doddle in my wheelchair but the small detour in the multi storey was mildly confusing with no clear signage. We all made it though!

Excellent museum. A great timeline of the islands history. Loved the TT gallery. The Manx story needs to be told and preserved.
