Transfer Gossip: Man Utd pushing for swap deal after opening talks to sign Barcelona right-back; Nottingham Forest launch fresh £30m midfielder bid

Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest

Manchester United are in talks to sign a Barcelona right-back and are willing to offer a defender of their own in return, while Saturday’s Transfer Gossip claims that Nottingham Forest will make an increased £30million bid to land a midfielder.

BARCELONA RIGHT-BACK DEST IN UNITED TALKS

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has right-back slot as a major position of need and is ready to act on after opening talks to sign Barcelona star Sergino Dest.

Diogo Dalot beat out Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the starting role in the season opener against Brighton. However, Ten Hag wants more on attacking option in the position – and that is where Dest fits the bill.

The USA international played under Ten Hag at Ajax, with the Dutchman knowing his strengths well.

And now Spanish publication SPORT claims that negotiations are taking place between Barca and United.

The Catalan giants are in desperate need of offloading some of their stars due to their financial state. And Dest is regarded as expendable, which is good news for Ten Hag and United.

The report states that Barcelona want £17million for the player they forked out an initial £17.5m for in 2020.

However, SPORT adds that United and not willing to match that fee and are offering Dalot in exchange instead.

The issue is, though, that Barca want a straight cash deal so they may be some tense negotiations to follow.

Dest notched three assists in 31 games in all competitions for Barca last season. However, only 21 appearances came in LaLiga, where he failed to nail down a regular starting spot.

He did, however, play a full season under Ten Hag in Holland and, like Tyrell Malacia, the Red Devils boss seems to be a big fan of signing players he knows.

FOREST TO LAUNCH FRESH MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE BID

Nottingham Forest are set to launch a fresh £30m bid for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, according to the Daily Mirror, after having a £25m off plus add-ons rejected.

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White

Molineux boss Bruno Lage has revealed that Gibbs-White “wants to play for Wolves “, despite serious interest in the player from Forest this summer.

Reports have emerged that the 21-year-old is actually keen on a move to the City Ground after impressing on loan at Sheffield United last season.

Gibbs-White scored 12 goals and chipped in with nine assists for the Blades helping them to the Championship play-offs.

However, Lage claims the talented midfielder actually wants to stay at Wolves beyond the end of the summer transfer window. He also added that the club are doing their best to tie him down to a new contract.

“I want to keep him and Wolves want to keep him,” Lage said of the player.”We’re doing our best. He wants to play for Wolves, it’s just about finding the best deal. Let’s just hope we can make it a good outcome for everyone.”

FULHAM RIVAL CELTIC FOR BAMBA DIENG

Fulham have reportedly joined the race to sign Marseille forward Bamba Dieng.

The Senegal star has emerged on the radars of a host of clubs this summer, including Scottish champions Celtic.

However, 90mins claims that the Cottagers are still after an attacker after losing new signing Manor Solomon to a long-term injury.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal forward Willian has also been linked after he left Corinthians. Rumours also continue to grow over a potential deal for Roma’s Justin Kluivert.

But it appears that Dieng is a realistic option and that he will cost in the region of £15million.
