Engrossing at times and well worth watching, though the writing is often graceless and the direction haphazard.

Manhunt: Unabomber is marvelously constructed, deeply felt and one of the year's best.

Manhunt is an all-out winner. It draws great tension and frustration out of the bureaucracy of this particular federal bureau and takes the time to detail the Unabomber's motives as well as his methods.

The result is television that (occasionally) fails to pop with excitement, but nevertheless engages on an almost Fincher-ian level. Add in the fact that it's all really true, and looking away from Manhunt is a hard thing to do.

Manhunter: Unabomber easily represents Discovery Channel's best foray into scripted TV -- a taut, gripping account that touches upon aspects of the investigation many have doubtless forgotten or, more likely, never knew.

For those seeking more style over substance, the show falls a little short. It's worth tuning in for the performances and sticking around for the gripping narrative in play.

Thanks to the quick pace and assured handling, along with a few notable badasses, Manhunt is imminently watchable.

The capture of Kaczynski is a moment many of us remember well, but this harrowing retelling reveals the inside story of the hunt for the Unabomber-and what, or who, turned the brilliant, damaged Ted Kaczynski into a man who killed.

Psychologically acute and unexpectedly suspenseful, Manhunt elevates the procedural to high drama.

Sporadically hits high notes, but fails to sustain them over the course of the enitre runtime; much of the narrative surrounding Worthington feels overstretched, which is often unjustified as these segments often take the most liberties with historical fact. Treats the subject of one of the most bizarre, politically pointed, and engrossing criminals in American history with a degree of candor and depth that few other productions have matched.
