The band features original members Jim McCarty (drums) and Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar). Lead guitarist Ben King joined in 2005; singer Andy Mitchell and bassist Dave Smale joined in 2009. After breaking up in the late '60s, The Yardbirds, who spawned the careers of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, reunited in 1995, just a few years after their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Well, I have to admit that I am a bit biased because I was at each and every gig on this tour. (I work with The Yardbirds as their merch man/driver when they are in The States)...but this really IS a great CD. Yeah, I know what you may be thinking. Where is Eric? Where is Jeff? Where is Jimmy? Not really needed! Ben King has filled those shoes admirably. These are the classics you love as well as live versions of songs on the 2003 studio album 'Birdland'. This is The Yardbirds of The 21st Century. Andy Mitchell on vocals. Ben King-guitar. Dave Smale on the bass. Founding member Jim McCarty on drums along with founding member Chris Dreja on rhythm guitar. This recording is of specific historical value because it documents what would end up being Dreja's last tour with the band before retiring. Dont pass this one by.

This may be the last Yardbirds collection, as founding member and leader Jim McCarty has announced the retirement of the 2014 edition of the band. Given his long track record of CD/LP releases, it's hard to imagine this drummer/singer/guitarist retiring, as did his longest partner in the band, Chris Dreja, as a result of heart problems. "Making Tracks" was culled from various performances in 2010/2011 and it's a corker. Guitarist Ben King lives up to the high standards set by predecessors Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Gypie Mayo. Pounding out one song after another, this powerful edition of the "most blues-wailing Yardbirds" has at least left us a great album to remember them by -- so buy it from Amazon!
