Biography

Dr De Block was Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health for Belgium and currently is a Member of Parliament, where she is the Chair of her party group. She also held the positions of Minister for Justice, Social Integration and Poverty Reduction and State Secretary of Asylum, Migration, Social Integration and Poverty Reduction. During her tenure as Minister of Public Health, she placed AMR high on the political agenda, with a focus on addressing the spread of neglected tropical diseases and sexually transmitted infections that are now multi-resistant. She has worked as a general medicine practitioner since 1988 and received her title Doctor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
