Madrid Tourism: Best of Madrid
The storybook capital of Spain, fueled by Spanish food and wine
If Madrid feels like a fairytale, it’s partially because so many buildings here have a confectionary, castle-like look to them. Even City Hall is astounding, with its white pinnacles and neo-Gothic features. A self-guided architecture tour can begin by the great bear statue in the central Puerta del Sol. Wander by the fanciful Royal Palace before absorbing the natural beauty of Retiro Park, then visit one of the city’s many art museums. Artistry can also be found on your plate and in your glass, so close out each day sipping Spanish rioja and sampling tapas.

- ByMarkLovesFoodMadrid Foodie TourWe stayed near Atocha and walked uphill toward Puerta Del Sol and The Royal Palace frequently. We tried a variety of restaurants - I left some out of this list - but wanted to share the best of the best. I hope you enjoy the variety and stop to try some or all of these. Enjoy.7 items
- ByCharlotteMadrid Walking TourThis self guided walking tour is packed with things to explore! Starting in Sol, make your way through the Plaza Mayor and grab something to eat at the Mercado San Miguel. Leave through the back of the Mercado and check out Madrid's (some say the world's) oldest restaurant! Continue through the old winding streets off the Calle Mayor and you'll come to the Catedral--make sure to check out the modern stained glass inside. Next door is the impressive Palacio Real which is worth a tour inside. End your day with some churros at the Chocolatería!7 items
