The college football recruiting landscape is always changing. And while the arms race to build bigger and better facilities isn't stopping anytime soon, Mack Brown's decision to put a state-of-the-art golf simulator in his house could pay off down the line with one notable in-state prospect.

Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough Top247 quarterback Tad Hudson told 247Sports over the weekend at the NFA 7-on-7 National Championship in Bradenton, Fla. that the highlight of the summer so far for him – at least when it comes to the recruiting process – has been virtually playing Pebble Beach when he was on an unofficial visit to North Carolina.

"There's no other school in the country where you can do that," Hudson said. "At least that I know of, so that was pretty cool. I mean I was at Mack Brown's house talking to Coach Brown and his wife, Sally. They are such genuine people It was awesome. Me and my dad played a few holes with [offensive coordinator Phil Longo]."

Hudson, who 247Sports currently pegs as the nation's No. 13 quarterback in the class of 2023, has yet to name a leader or top group of schools, but there's no question that the Tar Heels are trending up in his recruitment after he spent some time in Chapel Hill.

"They are definitely up there," Hudson said of North Carolina. "I would say Notre Dame is up there too. I love talking to Coach [Tommy] Reese. He does a good job there. He's young and Notre Dame is a beautiful place."

Hudson threw for the Irish on June 8. Reese and Brian Kelly have yet to offer Hudson a scholarship, but he remains optimistic that one will come at some point down the line. Hudson has also camped at Clemson, Tennessee and Ohio State since the NCAA lifted its near 15-month temporary recruiting dead period on June 1. He's scheduled to take an unofficial visit to NC State on Monday before making his way to Alabama on June 21 and Arkansas on June 25.

This spring, Hudson 1,549 yards with 16 touchdowns to go against nine interceptions. In the process he helped lead Hough to an 8-1 record and a North Carolina 4AA second-round playoff appearance.
