San Antonio FC Signs Forward Machop Chol

SAN ANTONIO â¯- San Antonio FC has signed forward Machop Chol, pending league and federation approval. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We're thrilled to announce the addition of Machop to our team," said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. "His versatility and dominance in one-on-one situations, especially in wide areas and open space, add a dynamic dimension to our squad. Machop has demonstrated a talent for adapting to various roles on the field, making him a valuable asset. Moreover, his eagerness to learn and hunger for success ensures that he'll make a significant impact on our team."
Chol began playing with the Atlanta United academy in its inaugural 2016-17 season before committing to national powerhouse Wake Forest. Over the course of his collegiate career, he bagged 13 goals in 65 matches. In 2021, Chol signed a Homegrown Player with Atlanta. Since then, the 25-year-old has logged 1,006 minutes with the first team and 509 minutes between USL Championship and MLS Next Pro with Atlanta United 2. In 2023, he scored two goals in 19 MLS appearances.
Chol has three caps for South Sudan at the full international level, appearing most recently in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in January.
San Antonio FC heads to the road Saturday to take on Las Vegas Lights FC. Kickoff from Cashman Field is set for 9:30 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast on ESPN+. The 2024 season is presented by Toyota.
