The Saturday night events and concert in Detroit drove the room prices very high hence the given value rating. The staff from the front desk, security, housekeeping, were some of the friendliest hotel staff we've experienced in a longtime. Bartenders seemed exhausted, but serviced us well. Rooms were very nice, but the A/C never seemed to get below 70 degrees. One of our two room had a stocked refrigerator, I thought that was odd. Overall, if the room prices were a little less, we would stay there again.

We have stayed at several Detroit hotels over the years, but this was our first time at MGM. We arrived about an hour prior to check in and our room was ready. The king room has a full size sofa with a desk and chair. There are ample outlets for all your gadgets. There are numerous tv stations. The bedding and pillows are soft and comfortable. There were ample soft towels for the large shower. The bathroom has a long countertop which is great for all your toiletries. I was surprised how quiet the room was. So we would stay again.

Tip.... Do not disturb the items in the refrigerator. There is a small camera inside, and it knows when the items are moved. We had a charge because of this but the front desk removed the charge when we checked out. Always look at your bill!!!!

I previously stayed at this hotel in 2018 for work, but this was my first time staying for pleasure. My husband and I had a short visit (only two nights). All the staffers were knowledgable, professional, and kind. The lounge with the giant fireplace is lovely and we really appreciated that the casino floor was smoke-free. The only cons were the food quality at Tap. We weren't expecting fine-dining at a sports bar, but it was not good at all. The other thing was that the gift shop was not open at all and instead was replaced with a few snacks. Other than that, it was a great stay. I really liked how spacious the bathroom was and the cleanliness of the hotel overall.

Our room was not ready when we arrived at the hotel. We did not try to check in early, the hotel was just so far behind on housekeeping that many people had to wait hours for their room. We had to leave our luggage with hotel staff, went to our concert, came back after 11pm, only to find half drank beverages in our fridge. Room clearly was done in a hurry and certain things were missed. Hotel only offered a voucher for 2 free drinks (max $15 per drink) and a food voucher of $25 after I complained to the manager. Room rates were inflated because the concert that was in town. Normally $400 a night and ours was over $600 for one night. No discount offered even though we did not get access when we should have had access. Unacceptable.

We had a lot of issues during our stay. the toilet would not flush the whole time. we called the service desk expressing it was urgent every time. on the last day they came fixed the toilet. but it ran over on the floor making the floor a sticky and stinky mess.
we quested to have the bathroom cleaned ONLY and it took a day to get to the cleaning. #2 the hotel is not friendly for teenagers. we waited at the security entrance for about 25 minutes just to get escorted to the TAP restaurant because we had our teen-ager with us. The lady security called for a supervisor several times for help but no one ever answered her call. finally the manager of the TAP opened the rope and let us walk in. We took our left overs and the extra food we ordered for later with us to the room and we eft the hotel for sight seeing AND they came and cleaned our room and set our food in the hallway when they left. Remember we ordered food for later because we know the TAP would be closed when we returned. We returned around 9:30 pm or so and were expecting to have our food and it was trashed in the hall way. to say we were very upset is a understatement. We only ask for the bathroom floor to be cleaned from the toilet running over and they cleaned the whole room and trashed our uneaten food that we had ordered about 3 hours earlier.
#3. My teenager (16) wanted to go swimming but was told you had to be older to get to the pool.
#4 we ask about ordering food room service and the guy said no room service right now due to covid , then the next day we call and they say you can order room service but it was to late we were checking out.
It was just not a good stay and this was our first time to Detroit.

I booked 2 $450 rooms 2 weeks in advance of my stay. It was my 65th birthday and I had 4 adult female cousins with me. I gave my credit card number to the woman taking my reservation over the phone and subsequently received 2 confirmation numbers, one for each room. Upon check in, I was informed I didn't pay a deposit on the second room so it was canceled. Ridiculous as I received regular emails about my upcoming stay. Of course, there were no other rooms available so 5 adults were forced to share one room. We requested extra blankets and pillows which never arrived. My sister slept in chair using towels for warmth. Inexcusable. Further, the
bed sheets are tucked in at the bottom in such a way that they cannot be pulled up to cover your shoulders. Finally, there were stains on the carpet. I was embarrassed in front of my family and ashamed of MGM for representing Detroit this way. It was a pathetic end to what had been a fabulous night. All I got from the front desk was, "I'm sorry. I don't know how this happened." MGM Detroit, you are a sorry sister to MGM Las Vegas. I tried to post this review on MGMs site twice but it mysteriously disappeared.

We stayed on 10/1 and less than 5 minutes into our stay we found drugs in our room. We called down and sent for management and they responded by moving us quickly out of our room and found us a new room. They comped our room, but after checking out the next day within about a half hour we received a charge for almost 1200.00. We have called several times asking to talk to a manger and no return calls. The front desk informs us it is for a smoking fee. For one no smoking happened in the room and for two the website states ALL GUEST ROOMS AND FLOORS are no smoking but if in the event this occurs a $250 fee is charged to room not almost $1200. There was no smoking in the room as it is claimed there was. We have left several messages with a manager to call us and my husband even went as far as to go back to try to talk to a manager in person but was informed they were all in a meeting and again left his name and number to call and still nothing. The person at the front desk that day made it sound like we should be happy our room was even comped. I would be sure to check your room completely before settling in and taking photos and noting things in your room yourself because they couldn’t find drugs in the room but claim they have evidence to charge for a smoking fee and can’t take the time to return a phone call after the incident that occurred. I could of poked myself with a needle had the needle been the other side up as it was full of something in it still and we can’t even get a phone call back to discuss whatever evidence they are claiming to try to charge us a smoking fee even one over 4x what they claim is the fee.

We stayed here for 2 nights for my husbands birthday. The people who work here are super nice and very accommodating . The first thing I would say could be improved is the pool is only open until 6pm, so you check in at 4pm and by the time you settle in with your bags you have at the most an hour or so. After voicing concerns over this we conveniently did not get a room cleaning the next day even though the front desk asked what time we wanted it done. So no clean towels or anything , had to call the front desk . I guess if you’re going to complain about anything wait until a week after you check out. Also the casino had very few dining options. Tap was not open at all, Breezes food court had one of the 5/6 options open and D-Prime was poorly rated so we didn’t bother going there. I would say unless you want to go and strictly gamble go elsewhere .

Our refit card was charged 4 times for just the room in less than 24 hours! More than $2500 in pending transactions for a $350/night room, all done by the time we woke up our first night here. When confronted, I received no apology, just that only one of the charges would go through. This is disgusting incompetence. I asked for the manager on two separate occasions and was told that no one was available for me to speak with. The front desk and hotel side does not care who you are or what you’re doing. Watch your bill and make sure that if you ask to upgrade your room you get it in writing with the total price will be upfront. Then find out how they plan to charge it. Very poor business practices! We will never stay here again. This was our fourth trip here in just the last two months. Total shame!

Rooms were a bit pricey with many issues in room with cleanliness which we had to call to get rectified. Casino was ok, staff was great on the floor, especially security.
Asked if they did tier match said yes, gave me a Gold card, but said no perks come with it and my app still has me as sapphire. May or May not try again there. Beds were very comfortable!
