Everyone has their own definition of "perfect" weather, but few will complain about a pleasantly warm day. Some places are lucky because their geography has gifted them with consistently moderate temperatures. From winter evenings that stay in the 50s to summers that don't go beyond 80 degrees, these fortunate locales across the globe are the envy of those who endure freezing winter months and sweaty summers.

Here are 10 cities that receive warm weather all year long.

San Diego, California

The weather in San Diego is perfectly balanced. Summertime highs rarely top 80 degrees, so there's no worry about days of scorching heat. Meanwhile. winter highs generally fall between 65 and 70 degrees, so a light jacket is likely all you need. Overall, San Diego has about 260 sunny and partly sunny days per year. While California's other cities also enjoy mild weather, none can match the reliability of San Diego's sunshine.

Santa Barbara, California

The other U.S. West Coast destination known for its year-round pleasant weather is Santa Barbara. Also in California, this city's summertime temperature hovers around 70 degrees, and its wintertime highs can drop to the cool 50s. Santa Barbara typically gets more rainfall than San Diego, but it only serves to enhance the city's lush, flower-filled landscapes.

Canary Islands, Spain

This popular Spanish island group sits off the coast of West Africa. Because of its many high mountains, the climate of the Canary Islands varies. However, the weather is pleasant year-round in many of the coastal regions on the Atlantic side of the archipelago. Summer highs rarely top 85 degrees while the lowest winter temperatures approach 70 degrees.

The quantity of rainfall depends on the island, with some receiving a moderate amount of rain and others being quite arid. But overall, the Canary Islands can best be described as consistently mild and sunny.

Malaga, Spain

Malaga is a city in the autonomous Spanish province of Andalusia. It enjoys an abundance of sunshine, even averaging at least six hours of sun daily during the wetter winter months. Mountains also block cold weather, so temperatures typically don't drop lower than 48 degrees.

Meanwhile, temperatures regularly reach 85 degrees in July and August, but because summer is the driest season, these high temperatures are accompanied by very little humidity. Incoming winds from the Mediterranean Sea also help keep the climate cool.

São Paulo, Brazil

Thanks to São Paulo's inland location and higher elevation, it has some of the most pleasant weather in Brazil. Winter temperatures range between 55 and 72 degrees, and summer temperatures fall between 69 and 83 degrees. This is quite a contrast to Rio and its coastal kin, which swelter during the Southern Hemisphere's summer months.

São Paulo can experience a lot of rainfall during its warmer months, but violent storms hardly ever affect the city.

Sydney, Australia

Outside of the tropical north and rugged interior deserts, the weather in Australia is quite pleasant. Winters are cool but never cold, and summers along the southern and southeastern coasts are rarely overly hot. This is true for Sydney, which boasts summertime highs in the mid-70s, with winter temperatures ranging from the high 40s to the low 60s during the daytime.

While rainfall can happen at any time of year and heat waves are known to occur, typically Sydney weather is pleasant at any time of the year.

Kunming, China

Much of China's weather can be extreme, from sweaty summers to the need for parkas in the north. Kunming is an exception.

This metropolis in Yunnan province benefits from its high altitude of just over 6,000 feet. "Heatwaves" only go up to the mid-80s, and summertime averages hover in the 70s. And even though the altitude means that temperatures can drop below freezing on winter nights, daytime highs reach back up near 60 degrees.

Lihue, Hawaii

Hawaii has some of the most consistent weather in the United States. It is one of the warmest states in the country year-round, mostly because of its winter temperatures. While its summers are not as hot as those of Florida, Texas, and Louisiana, its warm winters push the state's average yearly temperature high in the national rank.

The climate of Lihue, found on the island of Kaua'i, is especially temperate. Summertime highs reach just over 80 degrees, and wintertime lows drop only to the mid-60s. As in much of Hawaii, precipitation is frequent, but much of it comes in the form of light passing showers.

Medellin, Colombia

Medellin, Colombia, enjoys almost perfect temperatures year-round. This is due to a combination of its proximity to the equator, which brings hot temperatures, and its elevation of nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, which cools things off. Its geography gives it an ideal balance for temperate weather.

Average high temperatures in Medellin fluctuate by only about 4 degrees month by month, hovering in the low- to mid-70s. Meanwhile, average lows fluctuate even less—only 3 degrees across the months. Those stay around the low- to mid-50s.

Similar to São Paulo, Medellin's tropical climate leads to frequent and considerable rainfall. The wettest month, April, averages over 13 inches in its 30 days.

Durban, South Africa

Durban, a city on the east coast of South Africa, has a moderate climate and experiences about 320 days of sunshine each year. The first month of its Southern Hemisphere summer, December, has impressively long days with 14 hours of daylight.

Durban's coolest months drop only as low as 57 degrees while its warmest months range between 68 and 80 degrees. However, these warm months are often accompanied by storms in the afternoon and evenings.
