I love Luther and Decorah a lot. The whole area is beautiful and the Luther community is amazing. All of my professors are very supportive and are always there to help.
Luther College has a great student environment, and the town of Decorah is especially nice to the students. I am thriving here and there music program is absolutely fabulous. I have loved all of my professors and the class sizes are small which I deeply appreciate. I will say however the housing is old and could use improvements, and the food options are limited.
Luther College overall is a really good small private liberal arts college. The city of Deocrha is incredible and the people are very kind and inclusive. Unfortunately like any higher education institution Luther falls short in its inclusivity being a mainly white school and not very accomodating to disabilities because its an old campus. The professors however make up for that in the inclusivity and broad fields of study.
I loved practically every minute of being at Luther college. The community is great, people are nice, there is a culture of taking care of one another. While Luther is a small school, the music program is very strong. The small town of Decorah may lack some of the comforts of the big city, but it makes up for it in charm and scenery. The food is ok. Our football team sucked but we didn’t care. My time studying at Luther was the best years of my life. I made some very dear friends.
The people are nice but really passive aggressive. If you are coming from a big town, this place is not for you.
This is a great school full of diversity. You feel comfortable around everyone and welcome everywhere.
My experience at Luther College so far has been a great one the students here are super friendly the professors genuinely care about the students and their mental health and are always available to talk to if needed there are many athletes, band, and theater students which makes it a nice diverse place.
It is very supportive community with very supportive faculty and administrative staff.
The only problems with the college are the limited resources in term of opportunities for internship and career developments and not very diverse student population

I enjoyed the community that Luther College fostered, and it was evident that the professors deeply cared about the success of each student taking their course. One thing that could be improved on would be having more sensitivity in their (the administration) announcements towards the student body and faculty body in regards to political and social injustice turmoil locally/around the globe. They could also improve on being more inclusive towards those with dietary restrictions.
Something I like about Luther is the teacher to student ratio, which is roughly 13 staff to 1 student. Due to this, the connections you build with professors are stronger, which is advantageous for letters of recommendation later in life. It is easier to seek help at Luther due to the availability of professors, and due to the amount of free tutoring available in every area of study. The advising staff is very good at what they do; I am not stressed about my course of study whatsoever.
Overall Luther is a great experience. Dorms need an upgrade but they’re live able. Lots of campus clubs so there is something for everyone.
I had a very mixed experience with Luther. Some things were really good and other things were pretty bad. The campus feel is really nice but it’s also very isolated. There are a lot of exceptional professors but not administration. The dorm communities are good but beware of the dorm facilities. There are a lot of resources to help students but not all of them are accessible. For example, I wasn’t suicidal enough for counseling services but every person I talked to recommended them for me. There are a lot of opportunities for students within their major but there are also a ton of required courses. They won’t tell you, but DMACC and AP courses don’t transfer well if they even transfer at all. It’s very safe but since it’s a small campus, if there are issues they’re harder to avoid or escape. I had such positive and negative experiences that I can’t really say whether it was good or bad.
Luther college is an amazing college. It offers a great environment for learning and building your future. Because it is a smaller college I am able to get a lot of help in one on one settings so that I have the best possible chance to grow in my knowledge and grow as a person.
Luther College is located in an extremely beautiful part of Iowa. The campus is small which brings a lot of people together. I always know at least one person in my class. I like being able to interact with my peers and professors on a deeper level. Luther has been very accommodating to my needs when it comes to their disability services. I’ve also had a positive experience in their counseling services. My favorite part about Luther is the music program that anyone on campus can be involved in. Overall, I love being at a liberal arts school like Luther. I feel as though I learned a lot more than I thought I would.
I think each college has its benefits and setbacks. I liked this one because of the nursing program, it is different than other programs. That is why I chose this college. Looking back now, I wish I had looked at other places for several reasons, one is that I am paying out-of-state tuition at a private college that keeps raising the tuition price far faster or more than other private colleges. I didn't mind putting down the payment for it in the beginning until I was creating a payment plan for my final year at the college and it was almost two times the amount that I have been paying before. For this reason, I am in need of a scholarship to help me finish my final year at Luther College. Aside from my financial issues, the college has been a great place to study. The professors are extremely helpful with learning the material and are understanding to students that are taking a class to fulfill an all-college educational requirement. The college offers lots of study-abroad options too
I had a good experience. The professors were passionate about the subjects that they taught and engaging as teachers. I was able to get lots of research and TA-ing experience.
The community feeling at Luther College is exceptional. The friendly nature of both
students and staff makes it easy to feel at home. The campus is small enough that one can
recognize familiar faces while walking across it. Events such as Homecoming Week serve to
create a sense of unity among the student body. Likewise, traditions like Christmas at Luther
demonstrate how the college strives to make everyone feel included in celebrations regardless of
religious affiliation or cultural background.
Cultural opportunities are abundant at Luther College. Several events throughout the year
celebrate music, dance, and other performing arts forms from different cultures worldwide. For
instance, Nordic Fest takes place every summer where visitors can learn about Scandinavian
culture through food vendors, exhibits displaying Viking artifacts and demonstrations on
Norwegian weaving techniques by experienced local weavers.

There is a great community here. It is an amazing college if you are looking for a small size. I wish Luther would work a little more on their inclusiveness when it comes to administration, but the students more than make up for it! Great groups. You will never feel alone while on Luther's Campus!
I think the curriculum is very good. There is some room for improvement, but I can tell that they are trying to create a more inclusive environment for all students. I also think that the education program is great, but still needs some improvement. Many of the professors do not practice what they preach when it comes to how to be a good educator. My professors are very good people, but they do not always apply the skills that we, as future educators, learn.
Absolutely loved my time at Luther College. It is a very welcoming place, and the majority of the professors genuinely care about their students. My one complaint is the student life office isn't great, but that should not be a dealbreaker if you are considering going here.
