Hunter Biden’s baby boy is a week old, but it may be months before his grandfather Joe Biden gets to meet him.
Hunter’s wife, Melissa Cohen — who he wed last May, after knowing her for six days — gave birth to a “beautiful and healthy” son on March 28, according to her brother, Garyn Cohen.
But presidential candidate, Joe, 77, is currently under a state-mandated lockdown at his home in Wilmington, Del., amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Garyn told The Post it would be “phenomenal” if the politician’s new grandson got to visit him in the White House come next January.
“But with politics, one never knows what will happen; we have to wait and see,” said Garyn. “It’s been quite a shock this year with coronavirus — who knows what will happen come November?”
It’s a welcome break from the drama Hunter has been going through lately.
A recovering addict who has spoken openly about his past drug use, Hunter has also been in the headlines over his controversial position on the board of Burisma, an oil company in Ukraine.
On Friday, it was reported that the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s Republican-led inquiry is still intent on pushing ahead with their inquiry into his business dealings.
But Garyn, speaking from his home in South Africa, said that his sister is a great support for Hunter.
“They’re very, very happy,” he said. “My sister has a way of doing this, of helping people.”
Although their quickie marriage came as a shock to both sides of the family, Garyn said: “It was fate, beshert [Yiddish for destiny] . . . now, thank god, all is good, they’re very happy. They have something positive to focus on.”
Baby-boy Biden was born in Los Angeles, where the family is living in a $2.5 million home in the Hollywood Hills. He’s the first child for Melissa, and the fifth for Hunter, who has three girls with his first wife, Kathleen, and a young daughter with former stripper Lunden Roberts.
The boy’s arrival comes just weeks after Biden’s lawyers reached a final child support settlement with Roberts. He had initially argued that he was not the father of Roberts’ child.
A judge blasted the former vice-president’s son for his repeated attempts to delay that case, possibly to avoid the release of financial documents that could expose his business dealings abroad.
Hunter was married for 24 years to Kathleen Biden, with whom he has three grown daughters. They divorced in 2013.
He later dated Hallie Biden, the widow of his elder brother Beau, a former Delaware attorney general.Hallie and Hunter broke up in early 2019, as revealed by The Post.
In October, Hunter told ABC News how he met his new wife through a friend, who jotted Melissa’s phone number onto his hand and insisted he call.
Hunter got a “shalom” tattoo to match Melissa’s within days of meeting her and they were married at her LA apartment less than a week later; neither had family in attendance and the wedding photos were taken by a friend on a cellphone.
Melissa said she believed “the truth will prevail” in relation to allegations against Hunter and has described her husband as “an incredible human being” who “very much cares about his country and his family and his friends and his children.”
