Luke Shaw has been a fantastic servant for Manchester United. But what is his life like away from football?
The England international joined Manchester United way back in June 2014, for at the time was a whopping fee of around £27m for the teenager.
Fast forward a decade later, this has been paid back – and then some. Shaw has been an integral part of the first-team squad ever since and has almost become part of the furniture at Old Trafford.

Rumours began to circulate about Shaw being a Muslim after he was seen wearing white robes – traditionally known as thawbs – in Dubai alongside former Manchester United teammate Adnan Januzaj and ex-Barcelona star Bojan back in 2017.
A photo was also posted a photo of Shaw with the caption: “Having Sohoor night with the boys.”
Sohoor is the pre-dawn meal eaten by those observing Ramadan before they spend daylight hours fasting. This is why many believe Shaw to be a Muslim, however, there is no concrete evidence aside from this.

Luke Shaw does not have a wife, but he does have a girlfriend called Anouska Santos.
The couple tend to keep their relationship private – with Anouska’s Instagram account shut off to the public.
However, the duo are publicly known as a thing, with Anouska regularly attending Manchester United awards nights with Shaw.
Do they have kids?
Luke Shaw and his term partner Anouska have two beautiful children together – a boy and a girl. Reign was born in November 2019, while Storie, their little girl was born in May 2022.
It has not been confirmed whether a marriage proposal is on the cards, but the pair seem to be very happy together.

Luke’s brother is called Ben Shaw. He is a social media influencer, with nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram.
Ben was also involved in football and has played for various club’s youth teams. However, he didn’t get the same level of professional prominence as his older brother – meaning he’s had to take a different route in life.
Luke Shaw leg break
Luke Shaw’s leg break occurred during a Champions League group stage match between Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven on September 15, 2015. In the 15th minute of the game, Shaw was tackled by PSV defender Héctor Moreno inside the penalty area. It looked immediately bad.
The force of the tackle resulted in Shaw suffering a double fracture of his right leg, specifically his tibia and fibula. The injury was severe, requiring immediate medical attention on the pitch before Shaw was stretchered off and taken to a hospital in Eindhoven for further treatment.
The incident shocked both players and fans alike, with many expressing concern for Shaw’s well-being. He underwent successful surgery to repair the fractures, but the road to recovery was long and challenging. Shaw spent months undergoing rehabilitation to regain strength and mobility in his injured leg.
Despite the setback, Shaw’s determination and resilience shone through as he eventually returned to the pitch and resumed his career with Manchester United, where he remains to this very day. However, he does still have numerous injury issues, which may be a result of this horrendous feat.

- An Early Bloomer: Luke Shaw made his professional debut for Southampton at the age of 16, becoming the youngest player to start a Premier League match for the club.
- Once a Blue: Before joining Manchester United, Shaw was a fan of Chelsea. In fact, he attended the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final where Chelsea faced Manchester United, supporting the Blues instead of the Red Devils.
- Academic Achievement: Despite his immense footballing talent, Shaw maintained his focus on education. He achieved excellent grades in his GCSEs while also balancing his football commitments.
- Fashion Collaboration: In 2018, Luke Shaw collaborated with fashion brand boohooMAN for a limited-edition clothing line. The collection featured casual and sporty pieces reflecting Shaw’s style.
- International Recognition: Shaw has represented England at various youth levels before earning his senior international debut. He made his first appearance for the senior England national team in March 2014 in a friendly against Denmark. He has since become one of their most important players, and one of the first names on the team sheet.

Shaw has many tattoos, but a particularly bizarre one has to be the Coco Pops monkey on his arm. The image of the iconic cereal-eating monkey is actually a tribute to his son, Reign.
He told the Lions Den YouTube channel about his ink: “My son is obsessed with Coco Pops, he has a lot of them in the morning, I thought it would be quite cool because he is interested in my tattoos.”
