Lara Maszynski

Studentische Hilfskraft

Professur für Ethik der Künstlichen Intelligenz

Short biography

Lara is interested in all aspects of moral philosophy. She joined the junior research group in the ethics of AI as Research Assistant in November 2023, and has been working at LMU while completing her Master’s degree in Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy, with a minor in economics, and a B.A. in Political Science, both from Goethe University Frankfurt.

As a Research Assistant and in her Master’s degree, Lara pursues her lasting interest in practical ethics: that is, in using moral philosophy to make progress on everyday ethical challenges as encountered, for example, in the context of AI. In addition, Lara works on issues of metaethics and moral epistemology. Her current Master’s thesis deals with cases of ‘collective harm’, such as climate change, where individual actions only become very harmful when aggregated with many similar kinds of acts. Lara is also interested in issues relating to changes in moral beliefs and moral theories over time.
