Over the past couple of years, Wolves have lacked bite in the final third – and Ludovic Ajorque might just be the answer to Bruno Lage’s prayers.
After sealing back-to-back seventh place finishes in the Premier League following promotion, the club then finished 13th in 2020/21 and then 10th last term.
Wolves scored fewer goals in the last two seasons compared to the first two.
The defence has tended to be relatively solid throughout the club’s time back in the top-flight, but there is now a lack of ruthlessness up top.
Wolves therefore need to go out and sign a proven goalscorer, but Lage also wants a centre-forward who can win aerial duels.
Step forward Ajorque, who was been linked with a move to Wanderers in recent days.
The Strasbourg striker has a host of clubs on his tail at the moment, and it’s easy to understand why.

The ace has now played four seasons at the French outfit, and has found the net with regularity.
He’s hit 50 in 138 games for the club. To be getting a goal every three games for a team like Strasbourg is very respectable.
And he’s also got a creative side, as evidenced by the 19 assists he’s got to boot.

In one feature on him in January 2021, they said: “The French striker is simply one of the most fun players to watch across Europe. Ajorque is a pure target man, relying on good movement, positioning, and deadly finishing inside the box.”
The publication then put him at number 30 in their list of 100 top players in Ligue 1 back in January.
Ludovic Ajorque would be a fantastic signing for Wolves
One gets the feeling that Ajorque would really take to the Premier League.
The 6ft 6in star would likely cope very well with the physicality, and he obviously has a solid goalscoring record in recent times.
Wolves have lacked a cutting edge over the past couple of years.
Having someone like Ajorque in the penalty area would be ideal when there’s the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Nelson Semedo, Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto whipping balls into the box.
The aerial threat of Jimenez has sadly diminished following his injury. But Wolves can have that again if the club bring in Ajorque.
Strasbourg’s president Marc Keller said back in May that the club would let him leave if the right offer came in. With no strikers available right now and the new season starting this weekend, Wolves have surely got to approach Strasbourg for Ajorque right now.
