Wolves transfer news: Wanderers watched Ludovic Ajorque

Wolves were reportedly one of several teams to have watched Ludovic Ajorque at the weekend.

The star was in action for Strasbourg against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly.

Ajorque made a good impact for the French side, assisting Habib Diallo for the second goal in the shock 3-0 win.

Wolves are looking to bolster their squad following the injury blow to Raul Jimenez which has left Bruno Lage extremely short up top.

The Mexican is out for several weeks, and Fabio Silva has been loaned out to Anderlecht.

Wolves’ season gets underway on Saturday against Leeds United, and many fans are concerned about the lack of depth.

But links to Ajorque are encouraging, but any move for him may not be straightforward.

Wolves are not the only club to be showing interest. According to Sky Sports (via Birmingham Mail), scouts from Leicester City, Everton, West Ham United, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Newcastle United were all in attendance for Sunday’s game.

Ajorque is hot property after scoring 12 goals and making eight assists last season.

The 6ft 6in star is reportedly available for £18 million this summer.

Ludovic Ajorque could be a great addition for Wolves, he’s exactly what Lage is after

Wolves making a move for Ajorque would be an exciting move by the club.

He isn’t so well known, but Ajorque’s goalscoring record over the past couple of seasons has been really good.

The 28-year-old is a real handful, and is someone very capable of winning those aerial duels as Lage wants.

But it’s the fact he’s a fairly reliable goalscorer which is the main thing.

According to BBC Sport, he was actually more clinical than Kylian Mbappe last season in Ligue 1, with a 25% conversion rate (to Mbappe’s 23%).

Hopefully Wolves can elbow aside the competition and get Ajorque in before Leeds.
