Excellent tour with wonderful rangers and educational staff. This really showed the perspectives of various groups impacted by the cotton industry and the rise of industrialization.

The New England Quilt Museum has a fine collection of historic and contemporary quilts as well as information how these were created from various fabrics. Located near several other Lowell museums (such as the National Park Visitor Center & the National Streetcar Museum), this museum has a combination of permanent displays and temporary exhibitions. Of particular current interest was the "Domestic Partners" exhibition on custom-made quilts made of family pets and their owners, who commissioned the quilter to make these (often as a memorial to a beloved family pet).

A good choice for a reasonable view of this folk art form near several other history museums.

The Whistler House is a wonderful hidden gem of Lowell. It is right on the historic Worthen street. When you get there, you can either choose to take a self guided tour or one with a tour guide. The guides are well informed. You can take as long or as short a tour as you want. The museum is not focused solely on Whistler, providing a varied collection of artists from around the area. A wonderful museum that I highly recommend.

Began the day here with a trolley and boat ride of one canal which was worth the extra $10 for seniors! After a quick lunch from a sidewalk cafe, took a short walk to an 1840s Boarding House where the mill workers were housed. Next door to the Boarding House is the Boott Cotton Mills Museum complete with a large open floor full of looms, several of which were in operation making cloth! This was very interesting and loud, although ear plugs apparently were available - inquire. There is a small entry fee which contributes to the maintenance of the antique machinery. On the 2nd floor is the most extensive display of all the machinery needed to transform the raw cotton crop into various patterns of cotton cloth. The crowd was very light on this Thursday July 7th and the Ranger staff couldn't have been more helpful and enthusiastic throughout all of the three buildings we toured! Adjacent Parking is free with a Visitor Center authorization stamp and is easy to access via Dutton Street from the Lowell Connector off I-495. Would highly recommend to all as the numerous displays and two short films bring to life the story of this unique planned industry and its hard workers! The Visitor Center building alone is very informative and I would say is easily wheel chair accessible from the adjacent parking garage.

We love bringing our kids (and adult friends) here! The exhibits are fascinating for all ages, the staff are super helpful, and the outdoor sections (really steam train plus a trolley playground) are a highlight too. Just held my son’s birthday party on the second floor and loved it!

It is a unique national park experience as it focuses on the textile mills in the area, how they operated, who worked in them and how the population of workers changed over time, and how the industry changed. The museum, viewing the mill buildings (some are park buildings and others are repurposed into housing/businesses), and the walk along the Merrimack River were the highlights for us. We didn't see or do everything in 1.5 days and hope to return another time.
The city of Lowell is trying hard to overcome its grittiness. Kudos to them. But it still has gritty aspects that we found a bit off-putting at times but not badly.
We stayed at the UMass Conference Center and Hotel. Great location as it is within walking distance of most of the main sights.

This minor league baseball park is a great family friendly venue at a great value. In today’s day and age of major league ticket prices where a lot families can’t afford, going to a spinners game is a great alternative. The park is clean, the staff is nice and they have good entertainment between innings which keep things fun. But there isn’t just baseball being played at this amazing ballpark, there is tons of other fun entertainment! Things from baseball camps to fireworks for the 4th of July in the summer! In my opinion LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts is one of the top 5 best ballparks ever!

Many people were walking their dogs or just strolling in the cemetery. It was more like a gorgeous park with rolling hills and the most beautiful grave stones and statues. The most famous grave site in the cemetery is the Witch Bonney Statue. Took a bit, but we found it and the Lion (her protector) you can find by following where she is looking. You can google the legend about these two. Fascinating.

It was a small display of what the Boarding house would have looked like. Unfortunately the Park is closed (renovations) but we were able to go inside and take a look. In the display you could view what the room of the person who was in charge of the boarding house looked like as well as the kitchen and dining area. One of the displays showed the life story of a few young ladies who moved into the boarding house. In some instances the mill jobs led to other opportunities in their future lives. On the second floor they had a sample of what a boarding house room for the ladies would look like. The room was not too big but yet 4 ladies slept too a room.

The plays are always fantastic and the small venue makes the whole crowd more intimate with the shows on stage. Tickets are priced fairly. Parking is close by.

The architecture alone is worth visiting. Peaceful Catholic Church in the heart of downtown Lowell.. Welcoming to all. Gift shop downstairs sells eternal candles.

I visited the library for the first time with my 6th grade class in 1950 and I fell in Love!
I became a frequent visitor and spent many hours in the library on school projects and reading History books. Now 70 years later, here in Florida, I remember The Lowell library like it was yesterday.
I have two library cards and visit them often.
    Thank you Lowell Library.
